Mine does it but it stops after about 15-20 sec. Its like a warm up period.

Sometimes they're just noisy. Nothing to worry about. Mine buzz for quite a while.

Hopefully maybe taillight solutions or some one else will come up with a harness that will prevent the blinker "on ad off" feature.
peejym: HID bulbs are rated to last 3000-3500 Hours so if there running all the time those hours would go by quicker.

nicholasbell: The "buzzing/humming" noise is coming from the HID ballast which is perfectly normal, it just means the ballast is working.

Thanks Danny for the info, we were actually wondering about the "on and off" that is caused by the blinker feature on the 2014. Would this have any direct of impact on the HID system? Specially if the driver uses it heavily ?

Thanks

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee HID Kit Installation

Hi Guys,

Are you saying that while in DRL, the headlight shuts off when the blinker is turned on?

Steve

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee HID Kit Installation

Yes, at least mine does. Mine seems to only affect the drivers side. I turned mine off from the start, so I never noticed it but after the dealer did an update it reactivated the DRL and while waiting at a stop sign across from a glass building, I noticed it did turn off when the blinker is turned on. I just turned it back off.

Btw, Just finished installing the relay and new canbus fixes for the fogs you sent me, so far everything is good. I'll give it a month and give you a full report.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee HID Kit Installation

I'd like to hear from people who HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS with the Xtreme Kit from Xenon Depot. Are there any?

Too many stories about buzzing relays, lights not working, winking when off, DRL issues etc..

What gives??

That is correct both sides, this is by design. There has been dicussion here in the fourms. Because the headlight is close to the blinker or vise versa it is required by law that the manufactures make sure on coming traffic sees your blinkers thus shutting off the light on blinking side.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee HID Kit Installation

I feel some of these problems are minor. Problems that arose with the new electronics in the 2014 jeeps. The buzzing happens on all the HID ballasts I've ever owned. My factory srt8 300 did it, my evoIX did it, but they were very faint due to the mounting location and sound deadening. Its just the ballast warming up, it stops after a couple minutes. also I don't know many people who stand in front of their factory Hid system when its on but anyone who just installed something will stand in front of it and hear it. also consider most install just behind the bumper and do not add sound deadening material. my problem arose when the some people reported that you didn't need a canbus fix for the fog lights. apparently you do because the pulse the computer sends to the headlights also does the same for the fogs. It caused the relay to fail.

The thing is, this company stood behind all of it and helped me fix the problem wile learning the ins and outs of the 2014 jeep.

My theory on the headlight going off has something to do with how the led DRL functions on the overland. when their turn signal is on the DRL turns off. I know its not the same but this 2014 computer is tricky.

I have had my extreme kit since May of 2013, I have no problems with it and did not have any issues installing. Only the shadowing issue which is easily fixed if you follow my instructions here HID kit for 2014 Cherokee Limited

Post #165. Also do not forget the polarity, on my 2014 it was reverse and I just followed the instructions from xenondepot to change it. All and all the Extreme kit from xenondepot is the best.
