Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee HID Kit Installation

So I guess all 2014 Grand Cherokee's don't come with Adaptive Bi-Xenon HID Headlamps is that what this thread is speaking about?

Correct - HID/Xenon headlights are optional.

+1

Putting HID bulbs in a halogen reflector is my biggest pet peeve. It absolutely throws light everywhere, and also contains plenty of glare. If you deny this, than you're ignorant to the facts.

Even putting HID bulbs into the halogen projectors creates substantial glare. The projectors are formed around the bulb, meaning, the focal points, size of the bowl, etc., are created for that halogen bulb and that bulb only.

At the very least, for those individuals with halogen reflectors, please for the sake of other drivers, do not put an HID kit into your halogen light.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee HID Kit Installation

Hey guys, this is my first post on this board and I'm installing the xenon depot heads and fogs tomorrow. One question, how do I know if my lights on my '14 are reverse polarized without blowing up my Canbus box? I don't want to blow when installing. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Do you have a volt meter or light tester?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee HID Kit Installation

Just installed the Extreme kit on my wife's '13 Accord. Looks great. Impressed by the cutoff and width of it actually.

I happened to look in my engine bay at my ballasts. Drive side still secured. Passenger side fell down from it's mounting location. The sticky film, separated from the yellow pad, that was attached to the vehicle. So now, I have a ballast hanging there with a non-stick foam attached to it. Looks like it will be a pain in the ass to remove and clean off the ballast.

PS, I did not use the zip tie to secure. All foam pad only. The passenger side, had the ballast mounted vertically. Whereas, my driver side, is mounted horizontal, so I guess that's the difference. Also felt warmer too on the passenger side area.

Picked up some of that Scotch plastic Velcro thingy. We'll see if that will hold up better or not.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee HID Kit Installation

So the member who the post is originally about had a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Did his come with stock Halogen headlamps? If so did he replace the headlamps with the BI-XENON headlamps or did he just use the HID kit in his Halogen headlamps? I believe the BI-Xenon headlamp assemblies actually have a place where the ballast installs on the assemblies themselves, so no zip-tying is needed.

I just recently purchased a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee and it came with stock Halogen Headlamps. I am badly wanting to upgrade them to the BI-XENONs but 1st I must obtain used/new BI_XENON Headlamp Assemblies. Used can be found on Ebay for 200-400$. New assemblies are 700-800$. Once those are obtained what exactly else do I need. HID Kit (Xenon Bulb & Ballast), Special Wiring Harness & Canbus boxes?

Hi this thread is about adding HIDs to 2014 Halogen Projector head lights:
They look like this:

There is also a thread about converting from 2014 halogen projectors pictured above to 2014 stock HIDs which look like this:

here is that thread: 2014 Jeep OEM Projected headlight to OEM HID headlight

So you have 3 options:

1. Convert from 2013 Reflector Halogen to 2013 Stock HIDs:

2. Convert to 2014 Halogen Projector + Hid kit (probably less expansive, and more plug and play depending on 2013 Wiring Harness) (might require front end modification)

3. Convert to 2014 Stock HID (will be much more expansive and will requires custom wiring harness) (might require front end modification)
