Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee HID Kit Installation

Just a quick update for anyone looking into updating the h11 bulbs for better bulbs. Steve was right in suggesting the osram night breakers for increased light output and visibility. Unfortunately, the light output was too yellow for me as it was only a slight improvement in color only visible when the bulbs were on side by side. The light intensity was definitely improved but I just wish the color was whiter. So, I then tried the Philips diamond vision bulbs a few days after taking out the osram night breakers. Wow was I disappointed in the light output. The color was decent at 5000k but maybe a little too blue for me, almost artificial looking at night but not terrible. It's just the output was greatly reduced. So my next and I believe last option will be to try the Philips white vision bulbs at 4100k. Hopefully the color and output will improve with a lower kelvin temp.

Thankfully my wife has small hands and has been changing these bulbs for me every time. She's getting a little frustrated but I'm going to keep trying until I get the right color and light output.

So one of my Xenon Depot HIDs has suddenly taken on a pinkish hue. Is this typically caused by a dying bulb or a ballast? The kit is about 2.5 years old now.

Hi there! New to this forum and have been reading all about different HiD kits from all over.

I'm actually on the xenon depot site and am about to check out, but I wanted to see if you could tell me if the package I'm choosing will give me everything I need.

It's the extreme HID H11 kit w/canbus & 5,000 color bulb.

Will this package give me the relay harness and the canbus so that there is no flickering and the dash light also won't go off?

Also, I've read that the 4300 is good, but some people say it's a bit yellow. Is there a big difference between the 4300 and the 5k? And then how about from the 5k to the 6k? I don't want my jeep to look silly and fake blue lights, I've had ebay HIDS before on my old 2010 jeep, and they actually worked out well and had a nice bright white with a semi blue tint.

Thanks so much for your help and any other insight is appreciated!

For reference, I have a 2014 Jeep GC Limited with the standard halogen light set up.

Call if you'd like or text also: 908-523-8357. If anyone sees this and knows anyone who can take apart the bumper well and has good pricing in Central Jersey, please let me know!

Thanks!
-Mike

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee HID Kit Installation

I have the 4300k kit with Phillips bulbs from xenondepot. When I ordered I used the code Moparhid which gets you the canbus adapters required and a slight discount.

I would say The light color is a little softer(yellow) in daylight than I would like but it doesn't scream aftermarket. At night I would say it's perfect, a crisp white light.

If I was to do it over again, I would still choose the same color temp. Here's some pics for reference:ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1452786484.325755.jpgImageUploadedByJeepGarage1452786546.530461.jpgImageUploadedByJeepGarage1452786635.238111.jpgImageUploadedByJeepGarage1452786671.157820.jpg

You really don't need to remove the bumper if this step intimidates you. If you remove the module in front of the fuse box and remove the air filter box you should have plenty of room. If you need help with any of this just ask. Remember to disconnect the negative battery cable under the seat prior to unplugging the module to be safe.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee HID Kit Installation

Steve, It is my understanding from reading a cherokee forum you guys are testing a kit on the 2015 KL Cherokee that does not require capacitors or a relay harness. Just out of curiosity, is this in the works for other 2015 mopars as well??

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee HID Kit Installation

Hi,

The Cherokee is different from the Grand Cherokee. What type of vehicle are you looking at installing a kit on?
