Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee HID Kit Installation

Hey guys, i've started this thread a few years back. I am actually looking to see if anyone wants to purchase my XenonDepot 5000k HID Kit(was in my keep for 3 years NO PROBLEMS) I ahd in my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I have upgraded my headlights to the OEM HIDs with DRLs so I have no use for them anymore.

Please PM if your interested. I am asking for $75 + shipping (50% off what I paid)

Glad to see your still in the mix with this conversation. Your original question still seems to still be slightly unanswered, but it looks like you've done it and completed your goal. My goal for quite some time is exactly that as well, to convert my stock halogen headlight units to the OEM HID headlight units found in the overland and summit models.
Sometimes I feel like people make this more complicated then it has to be, but then other times I feel like it IS that complicated! Would you be able to share how you were finally able to make the conversion? I see that there were a few members on this forum that created a harness for this purpose, but it isn't in mass production yet? I also saw that Xenon Depot had a solution that may work for standard HID bulbs. The key seems to be the difference in wiring harnesses and the 4 pin in the halogen and the 16 pin in the HID wiring.

My main question that I cant seem to nail down is : what would be the full list of items needed to complete this headlight upgrade (assuming I have the OEM HID headlight units from the overland model with the LED DRL).

2014 Grand Cherokee HID Kit Installation

Could just buy this kit and be done.

Many guys are running these with zero issues at all in their 2015's.

This just looks like a kit to replace the h11 bulb with an HID ballast and bulb kit. Maybe im ignorant in this regard, but what im looking for is the harness or solution to replacing the whole headlight housing from the stock H11 halogen housing to the HID/LED housing on the overland model. It was my understanding that there would be some kind of custom solution needed to convert the existing wiring harness in my 2014 JGC limited to that of a overland or summit

For people looking to swap the entire Headlight unit with the OEM HID found in the Lux II package you would need to buy those headlights and get a harness for it to work. Below is the thread with all the info. Maybe people have bought harnesses not all work as supposed to. You can read all about it below. But you do need a special harness.

thank tvguy, ive actually read through that thread previously, which I believe you are the OP to? I suppose I got excited because you said you had done this exact switchout. I know of the members who've created a harness for this purpose, but they either don't reply or don't make them any longer. I suppose that special harness is where I am stuck, so anyone who knows about them please speak up! Thanks

Yeah I got mine from Jeep_addicted. Took me a while to get my hands on one and then I got a bad headlight and took me again longer to get a new pair. I got it officially installed last week. They are awesome. Going to post a write up tonight in that forum hopefully of them with some pictures. But he only made a few harnesses 3 that I know of. But they are beautifully done. You can try messaging him as I know a lot of people have but not sure he's building anymore.

No, I mean the ULTRA Canbus kit.

The ultra kits are their latest kits and read to be more robust than any other kit they sell currently.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee HID Kit Installation

I suppose im done attempting this upgrade. Not many people seem to fully understand the scope of what im trying to do.

Simply upgrading to HID's with a kit is simple enough, but what im trying to accomplish, like tvguy710 has, is fully swap out the stock 2014 JGC halogen headlight assembly with the 2014 HID/LED headlight assembly found in the Lux II package and on the overland and summit models. The reason this isn't simple is the wiring harnesses in the limited models use a 4 pin connector, while the overland and summit models use a 16 pin connector. The harness to connect the two together, making it plug and play, either doesn't exist, or exists in such small quantities for whatever reason.

Id love nothing more than to be able to complete this upgrade, but it doesn't seem possible currently unless I design and build this magical harness myself. I love coming to this forum and others like it to brainstorm for this very reason, so I was hoping there was a user who had this solution, but ive had no luck thus far. I suppose I will continue to hold on and wait for that genius poster to help me make this work!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee HID Kit Installation

Yeah that's basically the hardest thing. The harness and not only that it has to understand to turn the LED off when the blinker goes on and then to dim the LEDs at night when headlights go on.

Attached is the harness Jeep_Addicted made. Like I said I think only 3 I know of.

Both car buddy guys I had working on the car loved the harness.

Hope the pictures help.

I hope to get around putting my full write up soon. ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1461878317.324847.jpgImageUploadedByJeepGarage1461878326.463546.jpg

Really???? I thought only the "Plus" kit worked with 2015s. This is good to know.
