Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee HID Kit Installation

Can I get away without installing the relay harness and just installing the canbus fix?

What kit do you have? If you have the kbcarstuff kit, from reading this string I believe the 2014 will work without the relay harness. It sounds like their kit will definitely work on a 14 or 15 GC if you get the new canbus fix for the Cherokee. If you have the diode dynamics kit or the ddm tuning kit a relay is not required.

I have the xenondepot extreme kit. So this will work in my 14 GC? Cherokee HID Kit JEEP PWM HID kit Module | JEEP cherokee HID Kit Flicker Fix

I think that will work, but I don't think it is necessary on the 2014. The regular can-bus fix should work. If the lights randomly shut off after a few minutes you probably need either 1) a relay harness 2) the fix linked above or 3) the diode dynamics anti-flicker box made for Mopar products.

Most of what I have seen indicates the 2014 is not as picky as the 2015 so the basic xenon depot can-bus module should work. If you get the fix linked above, you need to make sure it has the right connectors to plug between the pigtail coming out of the grommet on the headlight dustcap and the ballast. If you get one with the h11 connectors (as the xd employee suggested elsewhere in this thread) it would have to be mounted inside the headlight assembly. I assume this is the best method but I don't think there is enough room for this inside the housing so it will need the 9005 (I think this is the standard ballast plugs??) connectors.

If using an external "fix" is undesirable you could always order a kit that doesn't need one.

Or get this kit, no relays, no extra adapters... Plug and play. Proven to work 100% in 2015's. Done.

I've just installed Xenon Depot's extreme kit on my 2014. The kit has everything you need, nothing further to buy. The hardest part on the install was installing the bulbs as its a tight space..

DDM Tuning: HID and LED Lighting

I am not trying to be contentious, but can you show me where this kit works in the 2015? The other thread talking about the ddm kits in 2015s was the ddm plus, which is the kit ddm advertises to work in 2015s. I am not saying you are wrong, just skeptical.

Matts,

This is the DDM kids installed in 2015 WK2 no issues here.

Had regular HIDs Installed with canbus and relay and issues powering/shutting off while driving/ flickering... tried to resolve the issue 4 different times. Finally saw Skunkd installed DDM kits so i bought them and instead no issues on the 15 with these. The 14s are easy to work with HIDs vs the 15. This is the only solution I've come across that works on the 15s
