loveracing1988: Did you use a relay harness or did you power the ballasts directly from the OE wiring?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee HID Kit Installation

So heres my funny HID story, I've had the kit installed for several mother with no issues and did a 16hr straight trip with no problems the only thing I had to do was turn off my DRL's. For some reason the other day I was playing with my setting and turned them back on as I left the house. About a mile down the road the car infront of me hits the breaks and pulls off the road. That was followed by 5-6 more cars in the next few miles, I was thinking this is the best drive to work ever, all the slow drivers are getting out of my way. So as I come to the first red light I can see my light flickering and flashing in the reflection of the car in front. my jeep is black, black rim and all windows tinted, much like the SUV's my local police use. I felt like such an a$$, but the commute was much faster.

Just buy this $16.00 kit from Harbor Freight; comes with the rivet tool and enough of the correct-sized plastic rivets to remove and reinstall the bumper cover probably 3 times.

Hand Riveter with 40 Industrial Strength Poly Rivets

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee HID Kit Installation

The new CANBUS fix showed up and after installing it, it heated up really quickly, so I shut the lights off and disconnected it. The polarity of the CANBUS to the relay to the lead coming off of the factory harness was correct as it always has been, but the FACTORY CONNECTOR was connected in reverse to the XD connector, creating a change in polarity. So, bada bing, there's the solution to the problem.

Everything works great now, even the DRLs.

I've got an even easier, cheaper solution:

Dorman/AutoGrade 1/4 in. hole screw-in specialty rivet for Ford (799-146) | Rivet | AutoZone.com

$5 for a pack of 10 @ Autozone.

We recently received some great feedback from forum member tvguy710 who recently installed the XenonDepot 5000k HID Kit in his 2014 Grand Cherokee and was kind enough to post up some pictures and provide feedback. The 2014 Cherokee uses H11 bulbs for the low beams meaning that you would need to order an H11 HID kit if you are considering this upgrade. While Jeep has changed the headlights on the 2014 the overall installation and parts required are the same for 2011+ model year Jeep Cherokee. Here is what you would need to get:

1) Xtreme HID Kit and select the H11 fitment. If you are unsure about which color temperature to select, keep in mind that 4300k will provide you with the closest output to stock HID lighting and the higher you go in terms of color temperature the less actual useable light output you will get. Please view this HID Kit Buying Guide for more info.

2) You will have to use a relay harness and capacitors or HID Kit error code eliminators when upgrading your headlights to HID. The Xtreme kit will come with a relay harness however you will also need to order the error code eliminators to prevent any sort of flickering or error codes being thrown when the kit is installed.

3) The XenonDepot H11 Xtreme HID kit will be plug+play. The kit will come with proper H11 connectors that will plug into your vehicle's OEM H11 headlight harness and will not require you to cut, tap, or splice any wires.

This customer chose to remove his headlights in order to install the kit which unfortunately required bumper removal. In some cases, customers have reported that they were able to access the headlights by removing the fender liner and accessing the headlights from the back (2011, 2012, and 2013 models).

Check out the pictures below to see some pictures of the 5000k HID kit installed in factory 2014 Jeep Cherokee halogen projector headlights.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee HID Kit Installation

I finally got around to installing the HID kit for the lows and fogs from XenonDepot. It looks great and I really recommend it for anyone that is thinking about it. If i could do it...anyone can! The kit was perfect and Steve helped me out with post-installation support. Also a special shout out to detailz0 for the advice along the way. And the other members of the XenonDepot staff for the replacement part.
If anyone has questions about installing them, let me know.

Here are 2 pics (i hope)so you can see the difference for yourself:

Sweet!! Which color temperature did you go with again? Was it 4k or 5k?
