Re: 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee "Assassin"

Okay, so you will need nine (9) 194 Wedge LEDs, (10) if you want to do the complete map light conversion. Two for the handle grip lights (1 ea.), two for the footwell lights (1 ea.), two for the rear lift gate door lights, 1 for the glove box light, and two for the clean swap-out in the front center map light console. THE MAP LIGHT CONSOLE HAS THE TWO LIGHTS WHICH HAVE A SINGLE LED SMD CHIP (EA.) SOLDERED ON TO A CIRCUIT BOARD. First off, Jeep are @$$HOLES for doing this. Second, if you have any type of DIY ability or know how to do basic soldering, or want to hire someone to do it, I will provide a detailed picture collection to explain the process. In fact, let's start out with some pics detailing this mod, because after swapping out all the incandescent light bulbs to ultra blue LEDs, having yellow lighting in the map light console was driving me CRAZY!

Re: 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee "Assassin"

I just took one of the 5 chip LED SMD 194s (see previous link) appart and used two of those LED SMDs to replace the single LED chip on each of the OEM map lights under each diffuser.

Re: 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee "Assassin"

The "ribbon tape" could not be more of a cheap piece of SH!T to deal with, but it can be soldered and I did add some wiring when I could -- even adding a SMD chip to the tiny "center light" in the map light console -- notice from the pics that it is now ultra blue!

Re: 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee "Assassin"

If you want to take the OBNOXIOUS route . . . why not!? You can replace the OEM vanity bulbs with these:

2X Ultra Blue Vanity LED Light Bulbs Mirror Fuse Sun Visor | eBay

Keeping the theme ultra blue, I wanted to make sure there was extra light to make up for the blue color . . . 3 LED SMD 50/50s in each bulb! These pics show the comparison:

Re: 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee "Assassin"

Thanks Wxchaser!

The initial audio upgrade to the Assassin will be comprised of the following components:

Subwoofer -- JL Stealthbox

JL Audio SB-J-GCHWK2/10W3v3/BK Stealthbox® for Jeep Grand Cherokee '11-Up (SKU #94508)

Amplifier -- Alpine PDX -V9

Alpine PDX-V9 - Caraudio Closeout

Line Ouput Converter (LOC) -- Audio Control LC6I

Audio Control LC6i 6 Channel Output Converter - Caraudio Closeout

Alpine Rux Knob

With the LOC, the stock head unit will still be used. The stock speakers will be kept for now as well -- albeit getting a nice bump in juice from the amp. I will post pics once the Stealthbox is professionally installed.

Re: 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee "Assassin"

Good build so far bro. I think we both can get ideas from each other. I have been, as a side project on six shooter doing lighting upgrades. I was looking at vleds but those smds look nice to. Where did you get them?

Anyways stop by my build thread of project six shooter. It's in the WK forum but any idea or things I've done can be adapted for a wk2.

Wow! Just checked out your build post and you've done some serious mods! I will need your input down the road on what chip to use. My CAI and MagnaFlow duel exhaust need the assistance of a re-program to maximize their relationship (However, I don't want to mess with my warranty right now). I see you went from a Jet Chip Stage 2 to a Hypertec Max Energy Programmer. BTW, the .44 cal. casings on your door-pulls are BOSS! (sometimes it's the little details that really stand out).

As far as where I got my 194 LED SMD 50/50 wedges:

20 x Car T10 Ultra Blue LED 5050 5SMD Wedge Light Bulb W5W 194 168 2825 158 192 | eBay

Specifications:

1.DC 12 volts
2.Number of Bulbs: 20PCS
3.LED Color: Ultra Blue
4.LED Type: 5050 Tri-Cell SMD -- 5 SMDs per wedge
5. Dimension: 9.22mm X 30mm

6.+50K hours light (claim) -- I have not had an issue with anything so far, they look great, and I get compliments on them all the time.
7. $9.99 for 20! -- nuff said.

Strongjeff- How do you like your Kicker speakers?

I love the kickers, plenty of clarity and the sub has just the right amount of bass!. Thanks for the link too, I will deff check em out. As far as chips go, there may not be much in chips for you now, but I see potential in the 3.6. stay away from jet, they don't work cuz the ecu will learn around it.

10-4 that. Too soon for the 2014s to have a proven chip right now. Yeah, I saw that you were kickin' over 3000W with your audio set up and had heard good things about the Kickers. Good to know for down the road upgrades.

I'm sure to have some more questions about your set up, but after this initial audio mod, I need to take a $$$ spending break!
