Will also need the body ecm to control it all

Re: 2014 Jeep OEM Projected headlight to OEM HID headlight

After reading through this and a few other threads, I still have a few questions that I have not seen addressed. If I missed it, please just point me in the right direction.

When it comes to the HID/LED headlight assemblies, are the all they same connection wise? I’m considering the Euro SRT as well as the domestic SRT or even the Overland or Summit assemblies.

Can I use the AFS assemblies or do they have to be non AFS?

What needs to be present on the headlight housing? Poking around ebay, I see some have the ballast and ignighter, some don’t.

Does your harness utilize the oem ballasts or aftermarket, like Morimoto or Xenon Depot?

Also while poking around ebay, I see a lot of the housings have broken tabs. In your opinion, will this affect the install?

All the 2014 headlight use the same 16 pin connectors.

DOT spec headlights only have vertical adjustment.

E Code Euro spec Headlights, have vertical, horizontal adjustment and they lack the orange sidemarker light and reflector. The shutter cut outs are also deeper for longer range projection.

AFS or NON AFS are not a issue for a retrofit.

(AFS headlights can be use used on WK2 that didn't come with them, HOWEVER the vehicle will not acquire the new feature, nor will it throw a code)

Currently the retofit harnesses out there are meant for using the OEM ballasts contained in the headlight housing.

If you purchase headlights without all the components you will have to provide the missing components unless you already have bulbs and ballast from another project.

Broken tabs WILL affect installation the headlamps need to be steadily mounted. If they can't be attached to the body firmly they can't be mounted.

Unless you are planning to creating some mounts I would not even consider purchasing headlight with broken tabs.

As you have stated above ebay is currently flooded with headlights with broken tabs.

Headlights with repaired tabs also need to be scrutinized as well.

Thanks for the info.

So, if I get the lights with the ballasts, igniters, and bulbs intact, all I would need then is the elusive harness? I wouldn't need an ECM for the retrofit harness, correct?

You are correct

complete headlights + adapter harness = retrofitted headlights

Re: 2014 Jeep OEM Projected headlight to OEM HID headlight

Sorry to beat this subject to death but would the dealer be able to order an OEM harness to match OEM HID headlights for a retrofit? Seems like finding the headlights is relatively easy, the harness, not so much.

Short answer is No.....

They can order one for you but who are you goin to find to install it?.

The reason you can't get a harness right now is because they had to be revised.

New components are under testing.... when the thumbs up is given you should be able get a harness when you are ready for one.

Give it a couple more weeks

Thanks very much for the reply. So the new harness isn't available right now? Do you have the new part number by chance? I'm pretty close with my dealer locally (I know the owner) so they would install it for me pretty reasonably.

Thanks again, I really appreciate it.

Someone was nice enough to put a link to the OEM harness in this thread already

Re: 2014 Jeep OEM Projected headlight to OEM HID headlight

If the harness is $900, I'll just give up now. I like the LED lights but not that much. Hopefully someone will come up with a solution soon for a true retrofit without giving up my first born.

Some members are beta working on a retrofit harness already, it should be ready in a few weeks.

Bottom line this mod is going to set you back around $1500.00 minimum, Pairs of headlights on ebay are showing up for $1000 on the low side and $1400 on this higher side. Dealer prices will start at about 1600 to 1800.

After the retro fit harness revision are done the price may have to be revised as well.
