Re: 2014 Jeep OEM Projected headlight to OEM HID headlight

So after reading this thread, I can assume that to retrofit my 2014 Limited w/ halogen projectors will cost me in the $1500-$1800 range if I acquire the headlights from somewhere other than the dealer? Figure $1400 for the lights and then $350-$400 for the P&P harness.

That sound about right?

Yes sir..... the source and cost of the headlight are the greatest factor for the overall cost.

I know my wife and I want to do the upgrade......just don't know if I want the cost associated with it. Currently have HID's in the stock projectors, but prefer the LED DRLs and actual bi-xenons.

Everytime I pull up behind a car and see the drl reflection it puts a smile on my face, well worth the money imo to the people that are complaining about cost. And now that the days are shorter I am using headlights in the morning, they really light up the road, though I think I have some adjusting to do.

This is no doubt my second favorite mod so far after my caliper covers.

Wait....really??? $1500 worth of headlights is 2nd fiddle to your probably sub-$100 caliper covers?

The Grandy is my daily driver. When I spend money on a Jeep, it normally goes to my JK. Just spent $1700 on flares & rear corner armor, plus $850 on a new hood, $390 on a new tie rod, $600 on a new Trek Top NX....most of which insurance paid for due to some nasty hail damage. But I've got around $12,500 into my JK on top of the $34k sticker price. So the Grand definitely isn't supposed to be the money pit.

That said, I've already spent about $3k in wheels & tires, plus the lift. Not really that concerned about the cost of the lights so to speak. Just that I already have HID's, that are world of difference over stock and aside from having the really cool looking DRL/LED, any added performance from them will be minimal at best. But then I'm not really looking for performance gain, either. That'll come in the form of an intake and exhaust. My list of mods for the Grandy will be short & sweet:

1.75" Leveling Kit
20x9 ET18 XD Monsters
275/70R20 Terra Grapplers (IIRC)
Overland Black Grille Insert
LuxII LED Headlights
CAI (Not sure which one yet)
Exhaust (Not sure which but maybe Borla 5.7)

My Euro-spec 2014 headlights are the best mod I've done to any car ever.

Re: 2014 Jeep OEM Projected headlight to OEM HID headlight

I am willing to spend my hard earned money on the light mod.

Even if wife disagrees. The lights are really noticeable when you see them at night. I have 'LED' envy.

Re: 2014 Jeep OEM Projected headlight to OEM HID headlight

My wife wasn't thrilled about me spending $500 on a set of HID retrofits for my JK, but it was a safety concern. Not so much for the Grand...and it's a bit more than $500.

Re: 2014 Jeep OEM Projected headlight to OEM HID headlight

In comparison the 2011 -2013 models have seen an increase in price as well

Two years ago when I did my headlight swap I bought a pair of bi-xenon headlights for $500. That was back when the right headlight costed $435.00 and the Left headlight costed $385.

Now the same headlight cost $700.00 so for some one wanting to do the headlight upgrade on a 2011-2013 they would be at $1658 (dealer price for headlight and plug and play harness) and additional $185 if they wanted the OEM DRL function.

So in perspective they are not that far off these day. However they were more 2011-2013 were sold with bi-xenon so the likelihood of finding a used pair in decent condition.

2014 grand cherokee headlight swap: 2014 grand cherokee headlight swap - YouTube

100% functional PNP harness for basic headlight function

Got the SRT lamps on my limited 14 with Jeep_addicted's retrofit harness. The video is parking lights on car running and hazards on. DRL works perfectly and dims as it should, the function of DRL off when signaling also is working, I just have it disabled for my personal likings instead of winking lol.

Total cost was a little over 1k for lamps and of course the harness with some minor labor involved. Well worth it!

Looks great. I take it you are the one that was beta testing the latest revision?
