Halogen headlights:

4 headlight system (separate low beams / separate high beams)

DRL : the Day time running lights on halogen headlight system utilize either the low beams (consumer) or high beams (fleet). The daytime running light is achieved by running at reduced power. To achieve the reduced power the circuit employs pulsed width modulation. PWM is a wave cycle that is not as steady as the DC wave cycle. The headlight circuit can be PWM either by pulsing the 12v circuit or the ground.

Bi-xenon headlight system:

2 headlight system ( projector with moveable shutter to produce high beam output)

DRL: the bi-xenon drl system utilize a dedicated light light array. When in drl mode the light array operates at 100 % intensity. Also there is the DRL cancel feature which cancels the del on the same side that the directional indicator is activated. When 4way flashers are activated both del array are cancelled. The drl array are reduced to 60% power when park lights are selected.

Okay here is where not deactivating you DRL becomes an issue since your halogen headlights use either the low or high beams the reduced power tries To activate the hid because the circuit is activated.

My harness has an adapter that converts the 4 headlight system to a 2 headlight system, so if either of the low or high beam are activated the projectors are activated.

In order to operate the LED drl my harness uses a relay to power the DRL the relay output is fed through the TDR-PO modules to get the switch back function.

So basically I am not using the drl system from your truck I have to build my own. This is the same with the earlier 2011-2013 models.

Just want to add mine have been functioning perfectly now for one year plus. Same harness from Jeep_addicted. I had to buy new lights as the ones I got from a forum user here were "buyer" beware I guess. I know the person probably tried to install them themselves and saw they had an issue (led burnout / gap on passenger side) and I was the idiot who bought them. The person claimed they were new and worked. Oh well. Lesson learned.

I would never buy headlights from eBay or anyone on this board.

Buy new lights with warranty. Period. Don't fall into the same trap.

Anyway - harness is top notch and you get full support. Jeep_Addicted is standup and even helped me install when he came up to NJ.

That would be awesome...PM it to me if possible, and thanks!

I didn't think it was possibly as DRL's are mandatory...where in Canada do you live?

Re: 2014 Jeep OEM Projected headlight to OEM HID headlight

Just joining this thread.

I've read all 42 pages of this thread today, this may be a huge help on my search for my future Jeep. I'm wanting to trade my 2014 Challenger for a 2014-2016 Grand Cherokee. I'm a particular guy when it comes to colors (beige interior) so finding what I want, with the lux group II, in a reasonable price range is difficult! All I care about are those damn HID/LED headlights. Why doesn't Jeep offer this as a stand-alone option????? I hate how you have to spend $4,200 extra dollars when you do a factory build, just for the headlights.

Where were you able to find headlamps for a reasonable price under warranty? I've looked around, but may have been searching for the wrong thing. I've only been able to find eBay prices or OEM parts dealers. Difference is 600+ a lamp!

Re: 2014 Jeep OEM Projected headlight to OEM HID headlight

FWIW, I had to buy 3 ebay headlights to get 2 good ones. Fortunately, I got a refund on the bad one (bad led in the DRL) but the seller didn't want it back. So I now have a spare Xenon bulb and ballast. If I had to shell out $2,000+ for these headlights, I would have just stuck with the Eagle Eye headlights; as it is I spent less than $600 for two good headlights (no broken tabs, all good LEDs). It definitely wasn't easy separating the ebay "wheat from the chaff"...

How did you test them before installing them to see if they were good?

I had to build a connector and then just ran 12v to each wire off a battery.

Re: 2014 Jeep OEM Projected headlight to OEM HID headlight

Hello everyone,

After successfully installing the HID LED headlights into my 2014 JGC, I'm looking to sell a headlight that didn't quite pan out.

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee HID LED Right Passenger Headlamp.
Looking for $200 OBO

The headlight works perfectly, I actually installed it and it worked in my Jeep before I uninstalled it due to a blue line in the DRL that I just couldn't deal with. I ended up spending around $700 (great deal) on a NEW headlight from a Jeep dealer after getting numerous sets that didn't work from eBay. This headlight was purchased as a set and the other headlight has no issues.

I will say that the only issue with this headlight is the blue streak in the DRL, all tabs are in perfect condition and the low beams/high beams work perfectly.

I have attached photos to see the headlight installed and determine whether it's worth a purchase yourself. I'm not looking to trick anyone or rip anyone off. I've been through the trials and tribulations of purchasing headlights through eBay and at the end of the day my best set through online channels came with this headlight and the one still installed on my Jeep, working perfectly.

Please inbox me if you're interested.
