Re: 2014 Jeep OEM Projected headlight to OEM HID headlight

I did some research on doing a full swap on my 2014 Limited from the halogen to led/HID setup. Nothing sounded all that easy. I did not want an aftermarket step...wanted the dealer to handle everything. After a few phone calls I quickly realized that using the dealer would cost thousands for the conversion. Long story short ..I found an Overland with a Hemi/ quadra drive II that had just as many miles on it as my Limited (6000) and of course fell in love w it. I told the dealer I would give them the exact MSRP difference and he took the deal. More $$$$ than I wanted to spend but now very happy with the lights and all the extras you get w the overland.

Re: 2014 Jeep OEM Projected headlight to OEM HID headlight

these guy have done it..

$700 for their wiring harness, bulbs & ballasts

you have to supply the headlights (OEM about $1500)

then pay dealer (or DIY) a few hrs to do the labor

its a big chunk, but they work

That's very reasonable considering what is involved in upgrading to those lights. I paid $9500 with my trade.... But not really apples to apples since I also got a v8 upgrade, quadra lift, quadra drive 2 in the new vehicle

They used T-taps that's what those red things are on the factory harness.

That was what I was proposing to do at first.

Project on hold due to the lights arriving damaged from the vendor I bought them from.. You would think a dealer would know how to pack them.. Unfortunately all they did was wrap the housings in plastic, and throw in the box... There is an extended plastic piece on the back, and 1 throw by Fed Ex and BOOM, BOTH broke off, and they came in individual boxes!!! Sending them back for a refund & ordering from a different vendor.. Hope they will pack it properly!

Nope....not necessary. I guess it's there for the headlight aiming mechanisms. That's it

Each headlight has three mounting tabs. That one is the upper mounting tab and it's very very very fragile. I think it is necessary, mainly for alignment purposes in the headlight support and of course for keep it in place.
I had exactly same problem and follow this procedure, I could repair it: http://youtu.be/Q5wYxfEZVJc
Of course you paid for them and is your right to get a good pair of headlights!!
Whatever if you fix them or if you get a new pair of heads you have to be very carefully when you mount them in the front fascia, because those tabs are very fragile.
Hope this help!! Best regards

Re: 2014 Jeep OEM Projected headlight to OEM HID headlight

RETURNED FOR REFUND!

Reordered from another vendor who knows how to package them!

New lights coming from a dealer not a surplus vendor, so I'll get them in about 2 weeks, send them to California to Pro Street Lighting for the conversion, then once shipped back top me, off to my local dealer tech for install.. Hopefully in about a month or so I'll be posting pics & my OWN video!!

Also let me say, that is an EXCELLENT video on the repair!!
I wonder how many techs or body shops actually have one of these tools & use it??
