2014 JGC Modifications Comments, Suggestions, Thoughts Long Post

My 2014 JGC Overland CRD ORA-II and Tech will be delivered Monday or Tuesday (hopefully), per MOTS (Thank You) delivered to railyard last Friday.

I will wait until it is delivered before I order anything, but I am thinking of the following modifications. Any comments, suggestion, thoughts or guidance would be appreciated. Concerns are listed at each mod.

ROCK RAILS
- Mopar rock rails Part #82212157
- CONCERN – Not 100% sure these fit properly, have seen conflicting information

ROOF RACK
- Rocky Road Outfitters Roof Rack with crossbars
- CONCERN – Not sure of long term finish quality

FRONT LIGHT MOUNTING
- Option 1
o Rocky Road Outfitters “Brush Bar”
o
Mounting of brush bar negates possibility of mount LED fog lamps either side of ACC
o
Allows mounting of more lights or longer LED light bar at grille
o
Allows future mounting of winch -
-
Option 2
o Rocky Road Outfitters “Bumper Bar”
o
Could mount LED fog lights next to ACC
o
Less driving lights
o
Allows future mounting of winch
-
Option 1 & 2 concerns
o Not sure of RRO long term finish quality
o
Not sure of RRO fit & finish quality -
-Option 3
o Suggestions????

LIGHTING
- Rear – LED flood lights like Rigid Industries Dually 2x2 LED Light
o Baja Designs are out of my price league
- Front Fog @ ACC – Something Rigid Indus LED that fits next to ACC
- Front Driving @ grille – LED light bar that fits
- Front Roof Rack Bar – Longer LED light bar, combo flood and driving
o CONCERN – getting wiring to roof rack without causing long term rusting or leak issues
o
CONCERN – running wiring with all air bags
-
All light decisions will be made after I have Overland and have taken closer look.
- Any ideas would be appreciated

Lighting Wiring & Controller
- Bottom Line – Use a Whelen PCC8R for control of lights and other accessories
o Yes, this is overkill, but I like the configuration
o
Like the small button module which controls the power supply module
o
Do not think I need a relay in power from battery
The PCC8R has an ignition controlled 12V input Assuming that this kill entire control if GC is not on
Fuse I will need
CONCERN – Best place to mount
o
If I decide on a roof rack light bar I would have to limit that to 15 Amps
o
All other lights and accessories should be OK - Any thoughts, comments and concerns appreciated
- HMMM
o Upon thinking about this further, I am not sure this will do what I want
o
All accessories would be switched, not activated by other inputs
ie., Added fog lights come on with vehicle fog lights
o
Further thought needed - PCC8R question
o If a switch to something is left on, will it be on when the vehicle is restarted?

TIRES & WHEELS
- Future issue – TBD

WINCH
- Probably not required for what I intend to do
- CONCERN – Weight on front and air suspension

Re: 2014 JGC Modifications Comments, Suggestions, Thoughts Long Post

Good Morning, at least for me it is. I expect to get my Overland today. Although, we expect 6" of snow by 4pm.

From above, I will address these issues one at a time. The first order of business is the rock rails.

ROCK RAILS
- Mopar rock rails Part #82212157
- CONCERN Not 100% sure these fit properly, have seen conflicting information

Is there a definitive answer on if these fit an Overland or not. I have been searching and have not found a definitive response yet.

Any help would be most appreciated, I want to order soon..............
