2014 JGC Overland Dome/Map Lights

Hey guys. Having trouble removing the dome/map light clear lens. I removed the tab closest to the sunroof with a mini flat head screwdriver. I can't seem to remove the other two tabs closest to the windshield. I've wiggled, pulled, and stuck the mini flat head screwdriver to manipulate the two tabs and nothing. Any help or pictures is appreciated.

Re: 2014 JGC Overland Dome/Map Lights

I had the same issue. Apparently the "correct" approach is to leave the lenses in place and to remove the entire overhead housing instead (by pulling down).

Thanks for the quick reply. Are there any tabs I need to be aware of by removing the entire housing? Does the housing just "pop" off by pulling down? Is there a DIY on this?

Re: 2014 JGC Overland Dome/Map Lights

This is the thread I was remembering. I haven't bothered to remove the overhead console yet because I don't have my LED replacement bulbs.

FWIW, it's on page 93 of the 2014 WK2 interior trim removal guide.

Re: 2014 JGC Overland Dome/Map Lights

There is a longer thread here about switching all the 14 lights to LEDs, I can't remember the name of the thread but it can easily be searched with a few key words like dome light or led. It's easier than you think - move your fingers to the front (facing the windshield) and firmly pull. There are 4 clips that will disengage. I first thought I was breaking something but I'd do it again and feel confident in doing it.

If you are doing that to change the 4 dome lights to LED, you really need to read my posts on the longer thread in this forum
