No problem, these forums have been very helpfull to me, just try to give back when i can.

So I got my LEDs last night and I replaced them all except the upper console. I just could not get that sucker to release, short from swinging from it like a monkey I pulled on the sides pretty damn hard to where i created a big gap but still would not release.

Anyone run into this? how hard did you all pull on it. I dont want to break the dang thing.

Re: 2014 replacing bulbs with LED's interior , replace headlamp/fog

Did the interior lights over the weekend with 6000k bulbs and love the look. Has anyone attempted to find a way to replace the front 2? My wife likes the new lights, but hates that the maps lights aren't matching and has hinted at me changing everything back if that can't be resolved? I'll try and take a picture tonight to show how it looks.

Re: 2014 replacing bulbs with LED's interior , replace headlamp/fog

That's so stupid of Jeep to do. I know LED's last a long time and should continue to shine long after everything else on this vehicle no longer works, but in the event something goes wrong and those lights die, you mean to tell me I have to replace the entire circuit board to replace my lights? Who thought this was a good idea? I noticed the same for the license plate LED's as well.

Yeah mostlikely will require a whole new board $$$$ unless you are good with surface mounting. But if it does die and I will neeed to look at another borard I will deifnately take the soldering iron to it before dishing the $$$.

By the way how hard did you pull on the upper center console to get it to release???

on a side note...

I am glad I replaced the liftgate lights to LEDs, check the brown (burn) mark around the edges

Re: 2014 replacing bulbs with LED's interior , replace headlamp/fog

I saw the directions to pull the entire console off, but I just pulled the light covers off and removed the bulbs that way. I had a small glasses set screwdriver I wedged in there to remove the bulbs. When I tried to pull the console off, I starting pulling the headliner off as well and didn't want to continue down that path.

Nice! I thought maybe I could go through the clear plastic lenses but was not sure. Thank you for letting me know.

Re: 2014 replacing bulbs with LED's interior , replace headlamp/fog

Hi all,
Good stuff in here. I have a 2014 Overland and looking to change up the ambient lighting to a little brighter and blue. I can not even guess at what they are now, but they are not bright and need to be blue like the rest of the lighting. The ones I am looking to change out are the two front and two rear foot well ambient lights, the overhead console ambient light, and the inside center console light. Any thoughts?
TIA

Re: 2014 replacing bulbs with LED's interior , replace headlamp/fog

Does anybody know if a break light can be added (easily) to this area? I can see through the red reflector that there looks to be a place for a bulb. I wasn't sure if the wiring was already in place. Also, I'm not sure if this can be a place to add an additional break light signal.

Any thoughts or ideas?

I kind of wondered the same thing, I'm surprised that housing wasn't used for additional brake lighting. Aside from the LED surround, the housing is hollow on the inside. So I'm sure if you tap'd into the brake light on the left with some electrical wire, you could run it into the empty housing with another bulb to sync up with it.

Ooh, good idea. Might be difficult running the wire and making it look clean.
