Did the 194 LED replacement today. Used the True Blue LED's that someone else had mentioned. Bought a pack of 10 for 9.99 shipped. They came quickly and, when installed, really match the blue lighting in our Overland very well. SWMBO came out and really liked the effect.
I fitted them in the front overhead, grab handle, foot well and tailgate lights. The first 3 went fairly easily as I previously gleaned info and tips from other posters (thank you all!!).
However, in regard to the lift gate bulbs, I decided to address situation from an engineering perspective and decided to take a different approach.
I then discovered that you don't need to remove the tailgate inner cover to replace the bulbs
The outer glass has 3 prongs that fit into a flexible plastic bulb holder (two on one side and one on the other) and the bulbholder itself has a double "split" in it, which allows you to press in on it and GENTLY move it around while lifting the glass portion. Don't worry about it moving around on you as it also has a bar on it that fits into a corresponding slot in the hole.
You will need two screwdrivers to do this, one to press/lever and the other to lift. On one, the glass actually came out first and I could see the holder just sitting in there. Pull it through, replace the bulb and glass then push it back in. You will also see the two 'splits' in the bulb holder that allow you to maneuver the whole fitting out of the cover.
In the second one, it all came out in one piece and you have plenty of wiring inside to pull it through. You then can remove the glass portion, replace the bulb and, again, it pops in and clicks right back into place
The only thing I did not attempt were the vanity mirror bulbs. The glass on them seemed to be a very tight fit and I wasn't too sure about levering the glass out. I then tried to remove the whole light/glass unit but it seemed very tightly attached. So if anyone has done the vanity bulb install already and has any tips for it, I would be much obliged.
