Re: 2014 replacing bulbs with LED's interior , replace headlamp/fog

replaced my fogs over the weekend. the easiest way to install them is just turn the wheel all the way to the right, that will give you access to the left hand side by a small opening in the wheel well at the bottom. you cant miss it. Then just reach up and get the bulb out and replace. I used these H11's and they put out 850 lumens

Re: 2014 replacing bulbs with LED's interior , replace headlamp/fog

Also here is a helpful hint on replacing the headlamps. first watch the video, but when pulling the bulb out you have to feel on the outside edges of the square bulb inside the housing for a tab, this tab is a locking tab that moves counterclockwise to unlock the bulb from the housing. When you put the bulb back in , with the connector facing downward - push the bulb all the way in and make sure you lock it in place using the tab again but moving it clockways. if done correctly you should not be able to pull it out after you lock it in place. the locking mechanism is like a circle that has 2 tabs on either side of the headlamp. (PLEASE NOTE THIS IS FOR THE OVERLAND \SUMMIT \ and SRT MODELS )

Re: 2014 replacing bulbs with LED's interior , replace headlamp/fog

Any further updates on the LED fog lights? The pics do look great, but how is the usable light from it? Is it just for looks or do they actually luminate the road better?

Thanks!

Much appreciated, I'm really thinking of doing the same thing as I like the looks much better, but just wasn't sure how much of actual illumination on the road I'd be giving up.

Thanks!

The 30w 5000k LED bulbs i have are rated at 725 lumen. That is almost half the output of the stock 55w H11 bulbs that are rated at 1350 lumen. So they're mostly going to be for show then real usable light output. If you want better light output you can go with an H9 bulb that's rated at 65w and 2100 lumen output. That will give you more light output. You would have to modify one of the tabs on the H9 bulb to make it fit but it's easy enough. You can google it there's tons of info this.

I've done the H9 bulbs on one of my previous cars in the past and there was a nice improvement over any other h11 bulb out there.

H9 bulb

Re: 2014 replacing bulbs with LED's interior , replace headlamp/fog

Thanks for the feedback, Is there any other type of H11 bulbs that would provide about the same lumens as stock but have a whiter color similar to the LED's?

Maybe a H11 Sylvania Silverstar bulb??

The only halogen bulb that i know of that would come pretty close would be Hoen Xenonmatch bulbs. I've used these bulbs for years in all my cars with foglights to match the factory HID's. I had them once in one of my trucks for over 3 years and i always had my fogs on anytime i had my headlights on. They last awhile too, compared to all the other blue tinted bulbs i've used.

Hoen

I actually noticed they now make them in an H9 65w bulb...i might try these on the Jeep.

Wow, I looked at that link. A set of Xenonmatch H11 fog light bulbs are only $30.00! Are they good quality? Or is it a too good to be true situation?

Yeah price is cheap and they are very good quality. I've ordered many times from them and only once i got a bad bulb and they sent me a replacement right away and didn't even ask me to send the bad bulb back!

Ok, I'm sold then, I'll give them a try. I guess the worst case result, I'm only out $30.00. Thanks!
