2014 overland - I noticed the rear license plate is already an LED bulb, I want to replace the interior dome lights with all LED's but I cant seem to find a guide on how to remove the housings on the interior of a 2014. Also would like to change out the headlamp to a 6000k bulb and fog lights to yellow LED.
If anyone has pics or has already done this can you post up your link or share, thanks! I was looking for information on the bulb types needed also on the 2014
After taking apart the overhead console and seeing what it entails I decided not to do it. At first I was just going to go off of harness so if I want map lights on i would just use dial by headlight switch but then I would lose the use of the button on overhead. That ribbon is no joke looked at videos on how to solder with them and that made my decision real quick. Kudos to cvbanc on attempting it.
So in putting everything back together I managed to damage one of the circuit boards that attaches to the ribbon tape connection ribbon came unattached. So I had to proceed with making it work. It was a success but didn't take no pictures cause I was already pissed from earlier. I am glad I was able to do it but it sucked. Hardest part was getting the plastic off to have access to connections to solder.
Picture is just map lights on
Those light bulbs look sick on your Jeep. May I ask where you bought them? I'm wanting to order the XENON headlights too to replace my stock ones. Just bought the Jeep 2 weeks ago and can't wait to upgrade little things here and there. Thanks in advance!
I ordered the entire interior LED kit and all 4 reverse lights as LEDs. I read every post in this thread and I kept seeing the same requests for help in replacing the interior lights. Has anybody else seen this video? Are there any other how-to videos for the interior LED replacements that we have missed??
Get the regular, I feel like I got ripped off I ordered the premium but it doesn't look like anything special. Post pics of the regular kit so i can see what the bulbs look like.
Hi Y'all, just wanted to post my LED foglight upgrade. I used XenonDepot's 5000K LED bulb from KBCarstuff.com. H11/H8/H9 LED Bulb | H11 CREE LED Fog Light Bulb Thanks Steve for the JG discount. They aren't as bright as stock; but they are an excellent color match to the stock xenon headlights and LED DRLs on a 2014 Summit. Now the wife wants LED fogs on her Audi!
I ordered the Hoen lights as well, should be here in a few days and I will put them in this weekend. Light up the road more at night on way to fire calls.
Can anyone recommend hid bulbs to replace my fogs. I have a 2014 JGC limited. LED headlights. I'm looking for fog lights that are brighter than the stock and that will match the color of the LEDs
I did the 5k to match the Phillips XV d3s bulbs I also got. I don't think you will get to match the led drls if talking about the '14 factory hid headlights cause they are more purple to me. I do believe the 5k are the ones to go with for h11 hid fogs.
Yeah I'm thinking about changing the factory bulbs in the projectors also. I might go with the same setup with Phillips xv d3s. That seems to be the best setup from what I gathered from the posts.
Has anyone replaced the always on foot-well lighting yet? I replaced the front bulb that comes on with the door open already. But would like to change the tiny one behind it to something a tad brighter/more blueish. I pulled the liner down a bit and can see its a harness it plugs into. Anyone make something plug and play for that or do I need to rig something up myself?
I purchased blue 5 mm LEDs w resisters and grommets from ebay. Sanded them flat for better light dispersement and to tone them down. I drilled a hole in the footwell panal, threaded the bulb w the grommet, disconnected the existing lame footwell light and direct wired the the led into the harness and secured the wire w electrical tape. The blue led is a bit darker in color than the OE interior lighting in my summit. IMHO I think it looks great, subtle and appears stock.
First post here but not new to forums (I made the switch from a Silverado to Grand Cherokee).
Although the glove box light was a b*tch to get at, the rest of the interior lights went rather well.
I wanted to give some tips on install since this forum also helped me with install.
1) The grab handles don't have to come off - use a small flat head to pop one side of the plastic cover off and you have access to the bulb (I first removed one handle completely, then lesson learned). Pry on the side that you turn the light on and off.
2) the kick lights / courtesy lights under the front dash are super easy. Cover just pops off by hand.
3) the map lights were a little tricky. I could only get one side of the plastic cover off. I used an angled pliers to pull the bulbs out. I did not replace the "front" lights - it doesn't bother me that much that they are different colors.
4) rear lift gate - I used a VERY small flat head (used to fix eye glasses) and popped the covers off. You do have to use some force so take your time on this. You then have access to the bulbs. I did have to pull the socket itself through the hole to have enough pressure to put the cover back on (tough to explain but you'll see what I mean once you have the cover off).
As far as bulb choice, I ordered Philips 194LED bulbs from RockAuto (see picture). I did order rear exterior LED bulbs but those I'll have to return - stupid "no bulb error" when using LEDs.
Edit: I'm trying to post a picture of the bulbs I bought, but I can't due to this being my first post or because I'm posting from a tablet.

Just finished up my install using these instructions, worked like a charm. Only took me about 20 minutes to do the map lights, front floor lights, grab handles and the hatch lights. Hatch lights were the toughest, but only until I figured the housings needed to be pulled through the interior panel to get the cover back on. No need to take the hatch panel off, which saved me a lot of time and aggravation. I wasn't even going to do those lights because I didn't want to pop off a brand new panel.
Would this be the footwell light which is on after the door is closed? Just got my overland and the footwell Ambient light in the front and rear is not noticeable. I thought they where burnt out:lol: Has anyone found direct replacement bulbs which are brighter? Or are you replacing the bulb and using the exsiting wire?
Just installed superbrightleds.com H11's in the fogs. Rated at 2250 lumen a piece (fan model). They look great and seem to put out just as much light if not more than stock and give a better view with the white light. fairly close to match stock HIDs in color.
