Re: 2014 XenonDepot JGC HID Kit Install W/Pics

I finally ordered my XD kit yesterday. What size hole needs to be drilled in the headlight dust cover? Want to have everything ready to go when it arrives.

Awesome! What did you end up getting?

To properly waterproof the bulb and housing, you need to drill a 1 1/8" hole in the center of the cap.

I ordered the Extreme H11 kit with canbus fix in 5K. Should be here Tuesday.

Thanks for the hole size. I have a 1" and a 1.25", guess I'll be making a trip to Lowes.

Re: 2014 XenonDepot JGC HID Kit Install W/Pics

I took advantage of the nice weather yesterday and installed my HID kit. I got the 4300k Philips bulbs and I'm really happy with the light ouput so far. Thanks to a few threads on the forum for the pictures and helpful wiring hints. I did it without the bumper removal and it wasn't too bad. Had to take out the air box on the driver's side and the metal panel in front of the fuse box on the passenger side. It took about 2 hours start to finish.

One thing I noticed was a buzzing and slight vibration coming from the relays. The lights are fine and have no flicker so I'm not sure if the sound is normal. It only happens when the car is running though. When I run the lights with the car off the buzzing and vibration isn't there. This is a different sound from the slight hum coming from the ballasts. I saw this mentioned in a couple other threads but there didn't seem to be a resolution. Thoughts?

Hi: Did you make sure to install the included canBUS components?

I had them installed but it turns out I had them in the wrong place. Should have been between the factory harness and relay but I had it between the ballast and relay. All good now! Thanks!

My kit arrived, the positive terminal connection does not fit in the terminal screw. The connector's hole is too small. Awaiting response to my email.

Yes, you need to drill out the headlight cover, as the factory bulb is covered by the plastic twist-cap. To properly waterproof the bulb and housing, you need to drill a 1 1/8" hole in the center of the cap.

I did replay back to your PM but as mentioned if the terminal connection is too small you swap it with a bigger one.

Walmart sells the larger size terminal connector you will need. I think it's a 6 pack for like $5 (they're yellow) down the same isle with halogen headlight bulbs and auto fuses.
