Re: adding OEM HID's to 2011+ Grand Cherokee/Durango

been working on this tonight for my durango. The drivers side is working perfect....but nothing on the passenger side. Ive tried the 3 pin as a ground and 5 pin as the power with no luck and then tried the lc-150's pins of 9 and 11 with no luck.

Swap the ballast and see if you get light then you will know for sure that the ballast is DOA

getting ready to do that. I may just pull the drivers side lamp off and see if it works on the pass.

Did you ever finish the lights? What about "flash to pass", did you get that done also. Did you do anthing about using the DRL as another light source?

yes...finished them. My durango doesnt have flash to pass. Another member gc4x4 used the drl lamp as a high beam on his conversion.

Re: adding OEM HID's to 2011+ Grand Cherokee/Durango

Thanks,
I just finished mine also, on a Laredo X, and I used a diode between my high beams and the low which adds power to the Ballast for the flash to pass. I used some old H7's 5000k and put them in my DRL's so I have both lights on with the highs. It was a great conversion. I don't use my highs very often but when your on back roads they really help..

Re: adding OEM HID's to 2011+ Grand Cherokee/Durango

Here is some additional information on what I did for all of you that have questions on how this works.
I only have a picture of the wiring coming out of the headlight assembly. Basically I purchased a diode it is 1N5404 from "The Retrofit Source" and made another positive lead from the power wire that goes from the high beam lead to the power lead low beam lead. Just for your information a diode is a one way check valve. When you pull the turn signal stalk for "flash to pass" the power goes to high beams which is the solenoid for the projectors but because of the lead from the high beams, with the diode, to the low beams the ballast also gets power and you get a high beam flash. the lead with the diode prevents the power from the low beams from back feeding into the high beams. This could also work for the fog lights, so the fogs would stay on when you put the high beams on. As the system is now the fogs will go out when the highs are on. Because of the high beams only powering the solenoid I ran another lead from the high beam lead to the other light for the inner (DRL) lens. "The DRL light." I had a spare HID set up with H7 bulbs so I used it in the DRL lens. If you are purchasing a HID set up for use in the DRL I would use a H1 bulb because it has a round base that may work better. Screw small screws into the bulb base and into the housing to hold the bulb in place.
Here are the pictures I have.

Re: adding OEM HID's to 2011+ Grand Cherokee/Durango

I wanted to add one more picture and explantion of the diode I am talking about. The new picture is in my photobucket album above. Power in a diode moves in one direction only. In the picture, power moves from left to right. You will notice a silver band on the right end of the diode. power moves through the diode but stops power from coming from the other side. This band is how you determine which way the diode needs to be installed into the circuit.

Re: adding OEM HID's to 2011+ Grand Cherokee/Durango

For those of you that want to try this mod I have the pin information in case you don't have the connectors from the wiring harness. The drivers side. From top to bottom. Top = red=low beams, middle = blue= high beams and the bottom is black = ground. The passenger side has a 12 pin connector. The top row from left to right, The 4th pin is the high beams.
The bottom row, from left to right. 2nd one is the low beams and the 4th one is the ground.
