So Ive acquired a pair of turn signal mirrors. Ive read a bunch of threads on here sayin its no easy feat gettting them to work on Laredo models. I guess the sales code is locked out. Has anyone been successful in having the dealer update your vin with the LEBD sales code on a Laredo model for these mirrors? Im going to be having my back up camera turned on and would like to have them do the mirrors too.

The camera kit was 3 change, dont remember the exact number. I did the install myself and then you have to go to the dealer to have the sales code updated for the camera to function. That price varies by dealer. The one I bought my Jeep at wanted 120, another wanted 100. The dealer I use for all my service did it for 45. And realistically thats what it should cost, it literally takes 15 min with the scan tool

The Code for the 2011-2013 supplemental signal mirrors is "LEBA"

Some dealers will make the call to whoever they need to, so that they can add the mirrors.

You can get your sales code updated anytime you want, but for activation to work the mirrors must be installed when they are updating the sales code on the car itself.

On the phone with a Mopar rep, which not surprisingly knows nothing about EVTS or this mirror mod.

Can I buy the mirrors aftermarket, take them to a dealership for install, and get them to add the feature to my VIN?

OR

Do I have to also buy the parts through the dealership? If that's the case, so much for saving a few hundred dollars, right.

You can buy aftermarket mirrors install them yourself and have the code added and take it into to the dealership for activation.

(ordinary laredo mirrors have only one plug which is for heat and adjustment control. The blinking mirrors have a second plug for the autodimming and the blinking function.) These are easy to install, since they plug into the door module and you can't mix up the plugs because all the plugs can only fit into one specific location.

I had this done to two Wk2's an 11 laredo E and a 12 Laredo X.

The first one (12 laredo X) had the code added by a friend at a mopar dealership.

The second one (11 laredo E) had the code added by the guys at Just for jeeps. (the code has to be added in the section "dealer installed options")

Who ever adds the code for you they can send you a screen shot of the dealer connect page for your vehicle.

What I did to confirm that the code was seen by my dealership was go in and have the look for it. Once I confirmed it was there I booked an appointment to have the activated.

@Jeep_addicted thanks!

When I got to the dealership, the service guys (2 of them) told me they couldn't do it. One said he looked up parts for my Altitude (Laredo) and didn't see any 'turn-signal' mirrors. I made the argument about buying one for another trim that it comes on standard, and he said that won't work either, because the Altitude doesn't even have the wiring harness for that type of mirror.

He did confirm though the part about scanning something into my VIN after they theoretically installed new mirrors. Needless to say, i left feeling a bit deflated.

Soooo, I posted on another thread several months ago, a link to a product page on Amazon; someone selling aftermarket turn signal mirrors (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BT97EV...UTF8&colid=3P46PF229F9XD&coliid=IOTRE13MZRCX8). My only concern with these, I don't see any additional wiring. Or as you mentioned, I'm just plugging what comes with it into existing sockets in the door? I just don't want to have mirrors removed only to find out I'm missing stuff.

Also wanted to ask, where did you buy your mirrors?

Guys

I told you how to get it done.

For a Laredo, Altitude, trailhawk

There are places like rockauto that sell the blinker mirror for $80 brand new.

You can also get them from the junk yard.

Here is my Situtation.

I was able to buy a pair matching mirrors, from ebay (meanin they came off the same car, the seller had them replaced afther the car was in a sandstorm)

For the other car the mirrors are odd. the right mirror is a just a regular blinker mirror while the other mirror has the Blind spot icon in it.

The heated laredo mirrors only have one connector commition out for it.

The blinker mirrors have 2 connectors coming from it. ( this is how you know it is correct)

There is no need for any additonal wiring harnessess. The doors are already wired for the blinkers.

There is a small box mounted to each door that the mirrors plug into.

The box is called the "DOOR MODULE".

I told you all it was tricky but if you can get someone to update your VIN with the sales code then all they have the do is flash car after the mirrors were installed.

As confirmed by Scott and myself once you plug in the the mirrors they dimming feature iw already active because the windshield mounted mirror already dims to the door modules are active.
