Aftermarket light switch location

So, going to get a bull bar for front and rear of my 2013 Laredo, and was wondering if any of you guys had any ideas on where to locate the after market light switch for the piaa's (or other kind) that are going to go on the bars.

Going for a clean "factory'esk" type look.

I am going to try and do this myself. Here's what I thought up. If you look just underneath your headlight, dome light controls you have a gas door release button. I want to order another button and simply install it next to the existing fuel door button. There are a million creative ways to change the logo or personalize it. By reverse engineering the new part and your existing button I think this install would be an absolute breeze and look awesome. I like the idea of just a black button but other colors would be cool too. Ill let you guys know how it turns out.

Re: Aftermarket light switch location

That is precisely what I am looking to do. I had an 04 4 runner before and it had extra slots for alternate sourcing (you could just punch out the dummy button and install what you wanted). It was clean and yea, by using reverse engineering it worked like a charm and was clean as from the factory.

I am very interested in your ideas (work up's).

cheers.

Re: Aftermarket light switch location

A little late to the show but I was thinking about where a switch could be mounted. Has anyone used one of the open button where the parking assist button is? I have a few stops open and figure that might be a possibility.

Re: Aftermarket light switch location

I plan on installing my JL sub control knob in the center console facing forwards (in red below). For me it will be easy to access, blend in very well and hardly be noticeable. I like it most because i can still keep my iphone towards the passenger side of that cubby and not have the sub knob interfere with anything.

This would be a great area to add AUX lighting switches into a custom panel. Obviously if you have controls for the suspension system there it wouldn't work for you.
