alcantara headliner

Hello everyone I am from mexico city. After some time away from jeep,had a 2008 cherokee srt-8, (had to sell it due to extremely high running costs. to much gas jaja and tires keep blowing up in the streets we have down here.)

anyways I traded it in for a 2010 audi s4. great car!! but now I got the itch for a new jeep, and furthermore a vehicle that can withstand being armoured with no problems.

I will be getting my wk2 in a couple of weeks.
black oevrland with saddle interior.

I want to change the headliner to alcantara and color the grey plastics black as I think this kills the look of the inetrior. I wanted to know if anyone here has done it in a wk2? and also where can I buy the alcantara material or is there anything better for this application?

regards

Diego

Re: alcantara headliner

I've done a ton of work with Alcantara, headliner, doors, dash, steering wheel etc.

The same principles apply no matter what you're working on. Of course different shapes can make things more difficult, deep recesses etc.

You should be able to pick it up at a fabric store under the guise of microfibre suede.

Here's mine, along with the handles;

I didn't use any adhesion promoter for the plastics, just sand, prime, paint, clear. As far as sticking down the material, I used a contact adhesive.

Damn, still gotta clean the bit at the top of the b pillar!!
