Just got the 3M crystalline 40 on the front two windows and 70 on the windshield. The 40 has a blue/purple hue to it almost prism like from the outside not smokey black like the rear windows. Not sure if it just needs to cure or will stay this way. Looks like a bad tint job you see on old cars. Has anyone experienced this?

Re: All windows tinted

I'm liking that Crystalline 70 on the red JGC a few posts ago (and the 35% on the black). Hoping you can post some pics of yours too jwall04.

Here is 3M crystalline 40 on the front two windows and 70 on the windshield. Only been on two days. Has not had a chance to cure with the cold rain we've been having.

Thanks! Jeep needs a wash! I will try to get some better pics this weekend. As for the blueish hue...I called another installer of 3M and he said it would need a good week to cure. I might be seeing a prism effect of the soap they used which should dry out. He also mentioned that with the 200+ layers in crystalline it can sometimes look different than regular tint. I think I'm just accustomed to blacked out windows and this film does not match the back. It is also more reflective than reg tint with the sun directly on it.

here are some pics of the 3M crystalline blue/purple effect. At certain angles and mainly when it is cloudy out it looks like a bad tint job. I have a love hate relationship. When the sun is out it's really nice looking and from the inside the clarity is amazing. This coming from someone who has had 8-10 cars tinted. Let me know what you think...

Re: All windows tinted

Just got my front side windows done today at 20% to match the back windows. Looks sharp, but from the outside, but it's DARK. No visibility problems at night, but it does help having the blind spot indicators just for reassurance

I know what you mean. I just had my front sides done with 3M Colorstable 20% and it has a slight blue hue at certain angles but for the most part it's a perfect match. The tint guy said the level down (3M FX) is more of the "traditional" tint color of the rears. They haven't fully cured but I think it's just a case of me noticing it since we were discussing it.

Yeah, i should have done color stable. The crystalline is so reflective. At certain times it just looks goofy!

I had the driver and passenger side done when i got my JGC in April. I went with Huper Optik 20% to match the rear windows. It's pretty much a perfect match with the rears.

I'm now thinking of doing the 3M crystalline 70 on my windshield..

I had the crystalline 40 taken off the front two windows today and replaced with 3M color stable 35. I couldn't deal with the purple hue of the crystalline 40.
