Altitude Drl turns off with signal on

I've seen at least 3 Altitudes that were opposite me at a stop light with their turn signal ON and their Drl on that same side was OFF, I thought only the Bi xenon headlights did this, Mine does NOT do this.....

Interesting. Would love to see a video of it. I have sat in front of a store and watched it turn off when signal came on.

Re: Altitude Drl turns off with signal on

Mine be some sort of setting using the Chrysler scan tool. Either that or it was a change at some point. So maybe Crrtain year Altitudes do it while others do not.

I have seen this on many other cars...not just my HA. It might be a safety issue to make the turn signal more obvious. I do think this is normal operation.

This is from page 164 of the 2015 Owner's Manual:

Daytime Running Lights — If Equipped
The Daytime Running Lights (low intensity) come on
whenever the engine is running, and the transmission is
not in the PARK position. The lights will remain on until
the ignition is switched to the OFF or ACC position or the
parking brake is engaged.
NOTE: If a turn signal is activated, the DRL lamp on the
same side of the vehicle will turn off for the duration of
the turn signal activation. Once the turn signal is no
longer active, the DRL lamp will illuminate.
The headlight switch must be used for normal nighttime
driving.

Obviously, this is normal operation.

Yeah I was assuming that's the case. I feel like mine does exactly as the manual says.

Re: Altitude Drl turns off with signal on

US models have to kill the DRLs when the turn signals are on; it is an FMVSS requirement (if the turn signal is within some distance of the DRL, the DRL has to be turned off when the turn signal is active)

So if there are US models with the turn signals within the DRL that don't do it, I think that's a serious bug.

Re: Altitude Drl turns off with signal on

I saw this for the first time today on a jeep in the opposite direction. I don't use DRL's and never checked but I didn't think mine did this.

Re: Altitude Drl turns off with signal on

The DRL's will stay on with a turn signal if you have either the parking lights or headlights turned on. They do on my 14.
