Re: Any experiences with Console Vaults?

Nope. The safe is really just two side walls and the top, so you retain access to the power source and the illum light.

It'll be here on Thursday...I should have it installed sometime Thursday night. I'll post pictures of it after that, if noone else beats me to it.

Here's some pictures of the console vault installed. And with a full size Glock in it for comparison. It's a little tight getting the weapon in, but with a Glock 43 or Springfield XDS it wouldn't be an issue. ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1435180087.983949.jpgImageUploadedByJeepGarage1435180101.351672.jpg

Thanks a million...looking forward to tomorrow. I see there'll also be room for my dash cam when I don't leave it installed.

Does it still leave access to the cigarette lighter in the main console? What is your review of it so far?

It does leave access to the cigarette lighter and the LED light inside of it. I think it is a quality product. $200 is a little steep but it's worth it. I believe it to be a solid investment.

My only "complaint" with it is sometimes it rattles but that's an easy fix.

Can you elaborate on the rattle and the possible solution?

Yes. The rattle is intermittent and only noticeable when the music is off in the vehicle. It's caused by the extremely small gap between the locking door and frame. It's not from the two bolts that attach the vault into the center console.

The solution is some well placed foam.

That makes sense. Thanks for the input. I'm thinking about buying one before my jeep even gets delivered. This information is extremely helpful. Thanks!

Re: Any experiences with Console Vaults?

It's worth it. You won't be disappointed. Honestly, the rattle is minimal and I'm overly aware of stuff like that.

When you're installing the vault, it's helpful to have someone help you spread the center console a little bit. It's a tight, exact fit.

Re: Any experiences with Console Vaults?

I got it today. FedEx comes early to my house, so I was able to go on and get it installed this afternoon. I can take a couple of pictures, but Mrleddy's pictures pretty much cover it...there's nothing I can show you that his pictures don't. I also second everything he said, except I didn't notice a rattle.

It's a solid, sturdy unit...I feel secure enough leaving my weapon, dash cam, and whatever else in it. You'd have to have a big crowbar to get into this thing, and the average opportunistic smash-and-grab offender doesn't have time (or tools with him) for that. If someone's that determined to get what's inside the vault without knowing for sure what's in it (if anything), he'll be taking your Jeep anyway.

I highly recommend it, especially if you carry a weapon and ever have to leave it behind at prohibited places (plenty of those here in Illinois). There were only a couple of restaurants I'd go to and have to leave it at home, but I'd be comfortable enough to take it and leave it in the vehicle now.

PM me if you want to know where I ordered it from, it was cheaper than from the Console Vault site, and there was a coupon code to get extra off. I ended up paying less with the 4-digit combination upgrade than I would have paid directly from them for the base model
