XDS fits great with the standard mag - not so great either the 7-rd mag.

Re: Any experiences with Console Vaults?

Great information, thanks everyone. Have been considering getting one for awhile and had been hesitant because I thought I'd lose access to a power port.

Re: Any experiences with Console Vaults?

Just got my Overland and my gun vault. Excited to get it all installed.

Has anyone installed the gunvault without using the two self drilling screws? I know they are there to secure the vault from being removed but im a little hesitant to create permanent damage to my brand new vehicle. Thoughts?

Re: Any experiences with Console Vaults?

I understand your concerns, but you've already spent good money on a good product - use it to its fullest potential and capability. You obviously wouldn't have spent the money on this product if you didn't have something(s) worth safeguarding when left in your vehicle - so don't skimp on the installation and make it that much easier for a thief to access whatever you store inside the console vault. The two screws that go in the sides of the vault aren't long enough to penetrate the console, so nothing is visible from the outside. I doubt there would be much damage visible on the inside once it's taken out after installation with the screws.

I used the screws, as did everyone else who got one, I'd imagine. If not, it's basically $200+ for show because anyone could lift the thing out with bare hands...and I doubt any criminal is going to see the thing and not at least pull on the handle to try it.

Pull on the handle and it moves, they'll figure "I'll take it with me and try to open it somewhere else."

Re: Any experiences with Console Vaults?

Fair statements all around. Thanks. For some reason I thought there was some sort of additional screws other than the two that are through the sides.

Im going to install her today, screws and all!

Re: Any experiences with Console Vaults?

Finished installing the gunvault. That was much easier than I anticipated. Although those two little screws in the front were a pain in the ass. I ended up only getting one of the front two installed.

Yeah bud install it fully. Like it was mentioned in the above posts, go to the full capacity of the design.

I also took off the console vault sticker on the outside to limit a clever criminals idea to research them to learn how to defeat them

Howd you get the sticker off on the front. Not to sound like an idiot, but it didnt seem easy to just peel off.

You might have to use a hairdryer to hear it up and then use fishing line to wiggle underneath it and peel it off. Hair dryer isn't always necessary though

Glad to hear it. Those two screws will hold, the plate still definitely won't move any.

Good idea taking off the sticker, but I just never bothered.

Just got a 2015 Altitude in Maximum Steel yesterday, promptly put black Gorilla "system" wheel locks on last night, and promptly drove over a screw this evening. Getting it fixed first thing in the morning, but changing a flat wasn't part of my idea of enjoying my first 24 hours.

Anyway, I need something to lock up my CCW, AND have been looking at the Console Vault. Does anyone have one installed? I was kind of surprised to see how small the space in the center console is, and I'm wondering with the vault installed, is there really enough room for anything bigger than a pea shooter?
I have one in My overland with 4 tumbler combo lock and Love it. It fits fullsize 1911 and commander size 1911 at same time. Very well made and gives huge piece of mind when I need to leave gun in car.
