Re: Anyone else with a MY2012 a bit dissapointed about the My2014 being available in

wow I'm pretty bummed and I just got a 2012. I like the new navigation screen with the 2014 as I feel the navigation is pretty poor in the 2012, looks like something from the early 2005ish...

The sat nav unit on my WK2 GC is prob ably the only thing I don't like on the car, the mapping system is frustrating, no matter what route I choose and set up it won't take me the main road that it should. It will keep telling me to go back, turn around and take 100klm detour.
Voice control is also over rated, try getting it to dial the person you want!!!
Everyone in phone book but the person you are saying. I like to use manual phone book selection.

Love the Jeep though!

Re: Anyone else with a MY2012 a bit dissapointed about the My2014 being available in

It doesn't bother me that hugely. The new transmission could be nice, but it also could be too many gears and may be constantly shifting.

The larger touchscreen would be nice, but I'm very satisfied with my 430N. The mapping and voice commands work great for my 430N, and I haven't even done voice training yet.

The LED DRLs, not really a huge deal for me. I'd really like LED taillights, but I'm sure the aftermarket will come out with some (though I'm very disappointed they're not already out).

New fascias, I couldn't care less about. I love the way my Overland looks, so new fascias aren't going to bother me at all.

Powerfolding mirrors would be cool, but given that it's an option overseas, I'm sure it'd be something easily retrofitted into the car. Honestly, I've no use for them though - my garage is wide enough for my Jeep, my parking spots are wide enough as well, and if I had to park on the side of the road I could always manually close them. Considering I can count the number of times I've hd to parallel park on one hand, I'm not sweating it.

The 7" screen in the instrument panel, meh. I'm fine with the little EVIC, if I had wanted more screens in the IP I'd have bought a Ford Edge or Explorer.

ecall/smartphone app/hd radio all have absolutely no interest for me. Their powernet architecture, frankly I don't even know what they're talking about, and honestly I doubt I would care about it even if I knew (if it was 48V architecture, I would stay the f away from it)

Honestly, the only thing I look at as something I really wish was available now was the diesel. I like my Hemi, but I'd have given the diesel a shot if it were available (and judging by the experiences of previous GC Diesel owners, I would have regretted it after the Chrysler mechanics ruined my truck over the years). Plus, being an all new and unproven engine, I'm kinda glad I wasn't a guinea pig so to speak.

I figure in a few years I may upgrade to a WK2 SRT8 or Grand Wagoneer. Until then, I'm not going to sweat the small upgrades to the WK2. These little tidbits of stuff aren't enough to actually matter to me.

What he said. I didn't say there are no cool features coming. I just want power folding mirrors. Our garage is just wide enough for our vehicles. I always fold them manually and it'd be nice to have a button do the work.

It doesn't really bother me...the only thing I'd like are the LED DRLs and tails. There is always going to be something "newer and better" coming down the pipeline, whether it be a cell phone or car. You can't let that stop you from buying something you love in present time.

Should be standard at Summit level IMO.

The big item on the enhancements list is the new tranny which will undoubtedly result in higher highway MPG -- especially if you cruise at "higher" speeds.

Re: Anyone else with a MY2012 a bit dissapointed about the My2014 being available in

Agreed, I think people are overestimating the mileage gains from the new transmission. You can add as many gears as you want, but if you don't change the gearing (final drive and higher gears), you're not going to see much difference. Given that its rare for manufacturers to do that (typically when they do add gears, you get more intermediate gears), and honestly the 5.7L is already turning pretty low rpms at cruising speeds, I don't see them improving on highway fuel economy that much more.

If they add a more overdriven gear or two, it will help, especially if they have a really highly overdriven gear that only is used at like 80+, that might help out with higher speed cruising fuel economy.

But if you really want to improve fuel economy, slow the hell down. Slowing down to 70mph on the highway or less will improve fuel economy way more than any extra gears will.

Re: Anyone else with a MY2012 a bit dissapointed about the My2014 being available in

Was thinking the other day my 12 limited lacks LEDs in the front during the day like these fancy other vehicles... Guess I shoulda waited 8 months... Lol... Oh well I will get over it..

Oh and refreshed facias are not always a good thing.. Hopefully it doesn't hurt the looks... For example. I like my 07 Tacoma better than the refreshed new ones that are hideous...

Re: Anyone else with a MY2012 a bit dissapointed about the My2014 being available in

its okay man take it easy, just trade in your old model with the new...

For me I'm not planning to keep my Jeep Grand Cherokee 2012 Over Land more than 3 years. I would sell it and buy a Nissan Patrol, but If the new 2014 is better after redesigning the interior of the JGC 2014 with the exterior for sure I might just trade in my 2012 with the 2014 at the Jeep dealer.

To be honest JGC have lots of faults in it. I wanted to buy a Nissan Patrol 2012 which was really expensive, but by that time after 3 years I think I'll be able to make it and buy a Nissan Patrol 2015:
