One thing about 14's coming out so soon makes our older jeeps that much older as far as model years that much faster..in other words, my 12 will be "2 model yrs" old in 8 months..

I thought the 8 speed trans was just a couple years old.

I bought a 2012 Overland in Dec and just bought a 2012 SRT8 knowing the changes but not really disappointed. If they come out with a SC SRT8 I'll just trade one in a year.

I think the WK2 will hold it's resale value pretty well desite the coming refresh. There is still a huge demand for new ones and the reputation will carry into the used market.

The used market for wk2 is flooded already. I live in CT and if I search for strictly used 2011 wk2s in a 50 mile radius it turns up 116 results.

the northeast is the biggets market for Jeeps. Ny, CT, Mass etc. becasue of the winter weather. Its not like that everywhere else. My two local dealers...one the largest dodge/jeep dealer in the state have 0 used wk2's last I checked.

that's correct. The used market is flooded with WK2's. Just look on autotrader or similar. You can get a 2011 Laredo for about $10,000 off the price of a new one. Up here, a new 2012 Laredo starts at $38,000. A used 2011 Laredo can be had for $28,000 and lots to choose from

I see the same thing here, especially in the Limited, they are rare in new stock as well. That is one reason the dealer was glad to trade me only after 4 months, they were happy to get a used LImited.

That's not entirely correct. While it has been used in a few vehicles already, that's ONLY in transverse/lower power applications. It will be used for the first time in a longitudinal form with a high powered engine is the new 760iL.

Jeeps are common vehicles, and the WK2 has been a huge hit. It's to be expected that there are going to be more traded in when you sell a lot of them. The fact that the Jeep is so much better than the previous model, and is on the same level as the German SUVs, will also help its residuals.

FWIW, to find a nicely equipped WK2 (wanted Overland, Summit, or loaded out Limited) with 4x4 in a color I liked (wanted green or black, ended up with black and happy with that) at any significant discount from new prices, I had to buy a truck from almost 500 miles away.

I am not upset at all about the listed changes, some of them would be nice but my Limited is exactly what I wanted and I am very pleased with it. My next GC will be the SRT8 but I am really in no hurry to trade at this point.
