Anyone Using 110 Portable DVD player?

The grandkids occasionally ride with us and I would like to play DVDs. The 2012 GC Limited we have has the dual pane sunroof and no DVD player so would like to get one and plug it into the 110 outlet. Questions are:

1. Best player to get?
2. How to mount it properly.
3. How to play sound through 430N.

Re: Anyone Using 110 Portable DVD player?

We used to have a portable for years. It was an off-brand 7" cheapie, and worked great for years. I've recently started looking again --- for the same reasons as you. I've seen 9" Sony at Costco for ~$99. They also have a 10" Sylvania -- which comes with carrying bag/case, headphones, etc for $99. I'd probably pick it.

For power, most all come with AC & DC adapters, so you should be good there.

For sound, you'll just need a 1/8" male-to-male. Plug 1 end into your headphone out on DVD player, and the other into your OE head unit. Select Aux In on your display. Or, you can make them wear headphones while you and Grandma listen to your music

For mounting, you have several options. Many bags/cases come with straps to hang between the front seats (straps go around headrests). When we had ours, we simply sat it on the center console (in a bag/case), and put the strap of the case underneath the console lid. You might want to measure how much room you have to work with -- as some of the new portables get quite large.

Re: Anyone Using 110 Portable DVD player?

Hopefully your system has a 3.5mm Audio Out (headphone jack), or you will have to get adaptors (like RCA to 3.5mm, etc).

Connect to the Aux In 3.5mm jack on the right lower face of your 430N and select the Audio Input AUX from the Media Screen (button left side above knob). (See Page 80 of 430N Manual):

You will, however, not be able to use the media center for anything else at the same time (assume you knew that). I bought a 6 ft 3.5mm dual male end stereo cord with a 90 deg on one end from Amazon delivered for undet $5. Best luck.

Me too. Got the larger screen ones each with their own DVD player so they can see two different movies or the same one. Got them for $137 online. If I was going to get another set I might spend the extra 200 and get Bluray versions.
