I run the splash guards due to the winters around here. Lots of salt equals lots of dings on the rockers. They are ugly but they are functional so I am keeping them.

Went ahead and picked some up on Saturday and installed them. Didn't realize that the front ones were so much longer than the back ones. Why are they like that?

Re: Are the Mopar splash guards ugly?

Fronts - longer to protect the rocker panels, front and back doors. Rears - only have to protect the short area behind the rear wheels.

Personally, I think the flaps look fine. And I am happy Jeep offers nice molded ones that attach to existing holes/fastening locations in the wheel wells, instead of having to drill hole for Generic universal splash guards.

Do a forum search, and you will find several threads with pictures and instructions in how to more easily install your new OEM guards. The instructions packaged with the guards are poor and incorrect in some areas. It is possible to install the rear guards without taking the tires off.

The hardest parts are getting the plastic pushpins off the front fender liner (without dropping the back side inside the front fenders to rattle around), and installing the center rear fastener on passenger side (V6) or both sides (HEMI) with a tight fit around the resonator heat shields.

Keep in mind on the rears, the clipnut goes behind the wheelwell "fabric" material (does not clip around it). On the fronts, take a pliers and slightly "crimp" the clipnut - this will make it grip better and hold in place while you are lining everything up with your other two hands.

The splash guards are paintable if you wish. I would not do this myself, and know of nobody in the forums who have done it - but it can be done.

Best luck.

I'm curious to know if you get nicks on the paint on the rear bumper area near the end of the rear wheel wells without the rear mud flaps on.
Yes, it has done its job to protect the paint. I do not have any chips in the paint. Plus, without the rear flaps, it looks good to me.

And actually, I don't think the splash guards look too shabby. But to "each their own" and all that. Thanks everyone for all the responses, opinions, and advice.

Re: Are the Mopar splash guards ugly?

My $0.02...
I installed just the front flaps, to protect the paint on the doors and minimize the ice/snow buildup on the lower front doors.
Works great so far.

I didn't like the looks of the rear flaps AND without the rear flaps it's fun to be able to drift over onto the shoulder to spray the dorks tailgating me!

Drove through fresh snow the other day and the rear tires were throwing snow up higher than the roof!

Re: Are the Mopar splash guards ugly?

I think it loos silly with just front flaps, and no rears.

Re: Are the Mopar splash guards ugly?

Id rather it look silly to a select few than look like crap to me from the rocker dings due to stones, and road spray in rain/snow.

Re: Are the Mopar splash guards ugly?

I agree that the fronts help, but why not buy all 4? I have all four. I do not like the looks, but I want the protection. With just front flaps, it looks like a fwd.

Re: Are the Mopar splash guards ugly?

Does mopar sell splash guards for the 2014 summit model, or will the 2013 splash guards work. Form mopar website, they are listing only 2011-2013.
