Re: Auto High Beams = AWESOME

Funny I read this thread after my wife just asked me to disable them cause she hates them haha.. I like them mostly but sometimes I don't.. Sometimes there may be street light that keep the high beams off but u want them on... Almost hit a deer because of that.. Also when crawling up my inlaws long dusty driveway I want them on but going slow they seem to stay on low beams.. But when cruising down a highway they are nice to not need to mess with high/ low beams for on coming traffic..

They only come on when your speed is over 21 MPH.

Re: Auto High Beams = AWESOME

I remember when I was younger in that Lincoln of my Dad's, those things were a menace! The reflection of the headlights off a street sign would make them dim, they would go hi/lo/hi/lo/hi/lo almost like a camera flash. They were a mess, he finally just ripped the sensor off the mirror so they wouldn't work. You couldn't turn them off!

I've used mine quite a bit, they work pretty good IMO. My only gripe is I don't like the fog lights switching on and off with them. I know it's the rule, but I don't like it. I'm gonna look into the star scan and see of fogs can be enabled with high beams again like the WK1. Mostly my reason is that when I put HIDs into my WK2 SRT fogs I don't want the HID fogs to be cycled on and off a lot.

Re: Auto High Beams = AWESOME

It's amazing how well they work. Don't tell the government though, like the TPMs they'll require them for everyone.

Re: Auto High Beams = AWESOME

I think they are pretty neat. I just leave 'em on and wait to be amazed that they work.

Fogs can be disabled. Start your Jeep, turn the headlights on to manual, turn the fogs off, turn the headlights to Auto.

The weird thing with mine is anytime I manually turn the headlights on (even with plenty of light left in the sky), the brights are on.

Re: Auto High Beams = AWESOME

I also have been impressed with the performance of the Auto High Beam Control on the Jeep Grand Cherokee coupled with the feature that moves the headlight beam down when going up a hill so that you will not blind an oncoming driver at the crest of the hill even with you're low beams. The feature that dims the High Beams when you approach another vehicle from the rear is also impressive. Early attempts to implement auto high beam dimming by Lincoln and Cadillac were a disaster and noted in another post.

Re: Auto High Beams = AWESOME

I am extremely happy with this feature. I live in a somewhat rural area with a lot of deer and when it gets dark it really gets dark. This headlamp system is better than the one on my C300.

Yes I know the fogs can be shut off. I like having them on all the time.

Re: Auto High Beams = AWESOME

I like this feature as well, the only gripe i have is when a car overtakes me on a dark road the highbeams blind the overtaking driver until he pulls directly in front and the lights dip, its only for a second though, but apart from that, great
