Backup camera install on 2014 RA3

So I've been looking into adding the OEM backup camera to my 14' Altitude.
Can anyone give me a definite answer if I need the full wiring harness like the 11-13s pictured here.
Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 - Rear back-up camera

..or can I pick up a new rear brow with a backup camera and just plug and play?

Please only respond if you know the answer.

TIA

Re: Backup camera install on RA3

It for sure isn't plug-n-play. At minimum, dealer would have to activate that feature. I'd bet money that the wiring harness isn't there either. In a nutshell, it isn't going to be cheap, nor easy.

Well the kit for the 11-13 is 192.66 through allmoparparts.com so if the kit for the 2014 is the same I think that's fairly cheap.

Install time approx 2 hours just because I need make sure it's perfect.

XAC Park View Rear Camera activation through dealer $~60.

In a pistachio shell, it's going to be cheap and easy as soon as the kit is released.

Re: Backup camera install on RA3

Someone was successful installing the camera. He had a custom harness built by ramharness.com.... You will basically need to run 3 wires from the radio to the camera for the video signal, and then find somewhere the power leads, and if you want to have the guide lines, one wire goes to the BCM. It can be done. He also had the dealer flash to enable the camera after all the wiring was done.
