Again I recommend the CREE LED bulb.

Have'em on both jeeps I swear by them now. White light not that goofy blue/purple tinted crap.
Do you know what LED bulb to use for the 2 interior lights on the tailgate for the 2012 Overland? You said to check out my garage. I don't know what you mean.

Re: Backup Lights

Thanks... just put in the liftgate backup bulbs. The little pin wires were bent on the wrong side and would not make contact with the copper in the socket. I bent them over the other way and they work now. I hope that's OK to do. I did notice that they work no matter which way I put them in,same brightness either way. The body reverse lights only worked if you put them in the correct way. Any reason why the liftgate bulbs work either way?
Many choices for the interior liftgate bulb. Do you have a link to the ones you use? Are you happy with them and do they make a difference? Thanks again for your help...

Re: Backup Lights

I used this style of bulb for the rear cargo area. I can't remember exactly who I bought them from but they are awesome. They did make a big difference when I added them.

Re: Backup Lights

Do you have 2 bulbs built in the inside of the liftgate or is your in the ceiling and why did you get yellow and not white?

Re: Backup Lights

The built in bulbs I was referring to are for the DOME LIGHTS.

I just added the thread to this post because if figured you would be interested in that too.

The very first thread in this section is a sticky.

You can find all the bulb sizes you are asking about right there.

I was giving you a method of using the LED panels instead of the 168 bulbs.

Here is one I did on the glove box

Glove Box LED upgrade

Re: Backup Lights

I guess I'm confused. I'm looking to change these bulbs in the liftgate but would like white.

This style of bulb is what is used. ( the first sentence three posts ago) that was to show you what style of bulb to look for, it was not a "buy this link"

Here are some white ones:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/OSRAM-2X-5W-...73b339&vxp=mtr

Or you can buy something like this where they preassembled all the bulbs you would need for the interior.

like here http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bright-White...6b74eb&vxp=mtr

Almost all of the interior bulbs are 168
The footwell bulbs are 921
The Vanity mirror bulbs I can't remember what they are

Re: Backup Lights

I have the LEDs in now but it's nothing like what my HID kit outputs for reverse lights

Only draw back of the HID is the 5-10sec warm up time

Re: Backup Lights

Look up the OSRAM Co. They seem to be very good quality. Will see when I get them. The Cree bulb is built very good but I had to flip the pins to fit the socket...
