Backup Lights

I want to put backup LED bulbs in my 2012 Overland. Which ones do I get and how difficult is it to change them? Can you give me a link to them? Thanks

Re: Backup Lights

921 Bulb: Location Liftgate

2X White 50W 630 Lumen CREE High Power LED T10 921 T15 Backup Reverse Light Bulb | eBay

7443 bulb: Location Body

1300LM Projector Lens 7440 7443 60W CREE XB D LED Bulb Backup Reverse Light Lamp | eBay

Again I recommend the CREE LED bulb.

Have'em on both jeeps I swear by them now. White light not that goofy blue/purple tinted crap.

Re: Backup Lights

Ok so to change the liftgate bulbs do you just pop off the inside panel with a flathead and to change the rear quarter panel ones just pop out the 2 pins with a flat head and pull the lens out. Do the pins break?

Re: Backup Lights

Thanks, just one more question, why aren't all 4 bulbs the same watts and the same lumen? One set says white the other doesn't. Sure wish I could get all 4 from the same guy.

Why does the ebay site say, This part is not compatible with 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee? Do you have a 2012?

Re: Backup Lights

The reason the bulbs are not the same is because the export models have amber turn signals in the outer position.

Don't worry about what ebay says.

There are a lot of us that have bought the wrong bulbs based on what was printed in the owners manual.

7440 and 921 is what you need. I am using these bulbs that is what goes in there.

You can always browse some of the older threads to see what we have learned so far.

If you check out my garage I have all the leds I have changes what type of bulb and where they go.

Re: Backup Lights

Bulbs are on there way. Was reading about installing them. They say that you have to plug them in the correct way positive to positive. How do I know which is which? This is what is says "Important: Our bulbs come with Standard Base, NOT CK Type. Don't put standard bulbs into CK type sockets. It may pop the fuse or blow the bulb. Or the bulb will light up very dimly. Use a electroprobe to check where the two Positive Points locate in your stock socket. You can also buy a pair of standard sockets to modify the wiring".... Do I need to be concerned about this or are they just plug and play?.

Re: Backup Lights

If they won't light up when you plug them in, then pull it out and flip the base around. Think of it like installing the battery backwards in your desktop mouse (positive side against the spring), it won't work until you flip the battery back over so the negative is touching the spring.
