Bikes

Occasionally my wife and I go bicycle riding, do I need to install a trailer hitch, or will 2 mountain bikes fit inside? Also, if they do fit inside, is there a way to secure them?

Re: Bikes

I am able to fit two bikes 26" mountain bikes in the cargo area with the rear seats laid down. Stupidly, I don't secure them, but I'm sure you could figure out a way to strap them down to something.

Re: Bikes

No damage to the bikes or Jeep - I try to be as careful as possible putting them in and taking them out.

Re: Bikes

My bro carries both our 26" bikes in his (don't want muck in mine), we just put a thick blanket in between them, no damage to bikes or Jeep. We thought about a hitch mount but the scum round here can see what bike you've got and follow you home from the trails and steal your bike at night, don't know whether this is a problem where you are but it's something to consider.

Re: Bikes

I've put two bikes into the back of a Pontiac Sunfire before. I would expect you could stack 4 in the back of the Jeep. If you're concerned about dirt, get a hitch carrier.

Berk how much was that hitch rack, looks perfect for my Gary fisher/trek hifi deluxe 29er. My buddy just picked up that Santa Cruz frame, hopefully we finished setting it up before spring! Chive on!

Sweet man! The single rack I think was $300. A bit on the pricey side but the quality is superb. You can add two more single trays to the one I have for a total of three bikes or they have a HD one that starts as a two tray and you can add two more for four bikes.
I like the single because I can leave it on all season and it stays nice and low key on the back. I only carry two bikes on occasion so my second tray is normally collecting dust but it's nice to have.

Chive on brother!
