Black HID Headlights for Overland summit

Need help?
I have a new 13 Black overland summitt. I want to get rid of the chrome. I believe i need the black HID SRT8 headlights 68086419ab (superseeded to 68086419ac) and 68086418ab (superseeded to 68086418ac). Does anyone know will these fit and not lose any functionality? Dealer says my VIN doesnt come up when he removes the VIN filter, and Jeepsareus says he doesnt think they will "wire up". I have not gotten an answer from allmoparparts.com or Justforjeeps.com in over a week.

Thx blxx

Re: Black HID Headlights for Overland summit

I just sold a set of SRT black headlamps to Pittlaredo11 for his Jeep. The black SRT headlamps fit and work on the HID equipped nonSRT's...but you will possibly lose your DRL's

Re: Black HID Headlights for Overland summit

You won't lose the DRL's Unless you want them gone. LOL

All 2011-2013 bixenon headlights use the same 3157 dual contact bulb holder in the DRL postion.

The SRT's just are wired to only use the 8watt portion of the socket since they have the LED DRL's in the bumper.

Someone on this forum with an SRT had installed LEDs in the DRL socket and moved the positive wire to the 28 watt position. and it worked.

US spec SRT headlights are a straight plug and play swap with a US spec Limited/Overland/Summit

The housings are the same, only difference is the blacked out part instead of the chrome.

You can even use a the european projector but you will lose the side marker and you will have to swap the turnsignal bulb holder because it is a single contact and uses 7440 bulb for turnsignal only in contrast to the US spec bulb holder which is dual contact and uses a 7443 bulb.

Re: Black HID Headlights for Overland summit

Thanks Jeepaddicted, your telling me what i had hoped to hear. So no problems, no loss of lights, no rewiring. Do you know are the superseeded parts i have listed above the correct ones?

Thx Blxx

Re: Black HID Headlights for Overland summit

You can always double check on an online parts site using the numbers you have.

When you search for the part the systems will usually bring up the part and highlight the superceded part #

Re: Black HID Headlights for Overland summit

What parts site do you recomend? I have tried several and they either dont have the part, or have a very poor description of part, or say the part wont fit.

Here Ya go: http://www.justforjeeps.com/20srblbihidh.html

68086419AB Driver
68086418AB Passenger (got the part numbers from www.justforjeeps.com)

I used these numbers and the site said they are now supercede to AC

68086419AC Driver
68086418AC Passenger

Whether you use an online parts place or the dealer if you are looking for parts they will only give you what the compatible replacement part for your car. Remember you want to customize your car so you will have to know exactly what the part number is you want or what year make and model or the VIN from a vehicle equipped with the parts your want to use the parts from.

I have been using www.wholesalemopar.com or www.factorymopar.com
to make sure it is a good part number and sometimes to get an idea of how much something may actually cost but when I am ready to buy I usually call Peter at www.justforjeeps.com

Just tint the corners with lamin x or use black vinyl. Way cheaper than buying new headlights. Here's mine
