Black Mirror Caps on White Jeep

Hey guys, I just purchased a 2015 White Limited and have seen many ideas for mods that I want to steal from people for mine. One is to change the current chrome mirror caps out. Everyone I've seen has changed to match the body color. Just wondering if anyone has changed to BLACK mirrors on a WHITE WK2. I'm planning on "blacking out" various pieces, was just wondering what it would look like. Might look stupid, just an idea for something a little different.

Look good if black out chrome, wheels and tint the windows.

That's what I was thinking. Already tinted the windows. Amazing how something so simple can make such a big difference in the looks, in my opinion anyway.

Next thing I'm looking into is wheels. Currently thinking I like the looks of the SRT8 "Spider Monkeys" (I think that's what I've heard them referred to as) in Gloss Black the best.

I am going to vinyl wrap my chrome mirrors in black once it warms up.
I have a 2011 Limited, already blacked out the grille and tailgate brow.

If you're considering the plastidip route, the mirror caps are by far the easiest piece of trim to dip on the whole car.

I just finished doing all of my trim (except the windows) and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

The standard tint that the shop where I got it done uses is LLumar film. They had a couple other choices, but I've always had LLumar on my cars, so that's what I went with. I just went with 20% on the 2 fronts to match the rear windows.

I hadn't really considered the plastidip route since I have zero experience with it. Was originally thinking I would buy Black covers, but to my knowledge you can't just buy the cover, you have to buy the whole mirror and then remove the cover, so that's probably going to be pretty expensive just to get some black mirror covers. I'll have to investigate the plastidip route. Did you just do it yourself? Did it come out pretty good? From the picture it looks nice, but wondering about up close.

Your whole jeep looks nice!! I'm definitely looking to go in a similar direction with mine. Only thing I think you're missing is tint on the front windows.

I did it all myself, using instructional videos from DipYourCar on youtube. I made a bunch of mistakes on various pieces which you can only really see up close, but the mirror caps are the only piece that came out flawless. The seam between the cap the mirror assembly is sharp and well defined (thats what makes plastidip work). I'll try to get a closer pic of the mirrors, but I did leave it with the normal matte plastidip finish. I didn't dip the rest of the mirror housing or use any glossy plastidip coating.

Like I said, the mirrors were an absolute breeze compared to the other trim. couple hours tops, and I only used 1 can (6$)

Re: Black Mirror Caps on White Jeep

I'll definitely check out the videos. I guess I can go the plastidip route first and if i'm not happy with how it turns out, then I can still always go the expensive route of buying 2 black mirrors and taking the caps off.

As for the tint rules, it's usually "illegal" to have anything remotely dark on the front but at least around my area they do not enforce it at all. I have had 5% tint all around my vette for like 9 years and not once had any problems.

Check out the vinyl wrapping techniques in my post (#16)

Carbon fiber vinyl wrap mirror covers and fog bezels

I am going to remove the caps to do it so it should be even easier. I have to wait until it's warmer though, I don't want to remove the caps in the cold in fear of breaking the tabs.

Videos make it look pretty easy. But don't they always.

I'm in the same boat as you with wanting to wait for warmer weather before playing with the caps.
