Black Sill Protectors

So I see the sill protectors offered by Mopar are stainless of course and I can't find anything for those of us that want to keep the blacked out look like I want on my Altitude. I found some cheap looking ones on Ebay or Amazon but I don't want to waste my time on garbage. I thought about buying a set of the ones from Mopar and then having them powder coated black. I don't know what the mounting tape is like though that comes on those if it would be easy to get that off so I can powder coat them. Thoughts or options?

Re: Black Sill Protectors

You could just get clear bra material over the door sills instead.

They're just stuck on with 3M double sided tape which is available at your local WallyWorld.

I figured that, I assume I can just peel it off easily, sometimes that stuff doesn't come off easy. I might just do the clear bra and leave it alone. Was thinking of doing the door sills and door edges.

Black Sill Protectors

I had clear material put under the door handles too.
Wish I had my door sills done because during a recall fix the dealer tech got scuff marks on my driver side door sill. I buffed it out for the most part.

Re: Black Sill Protectors

I like the idea of powder coating them, been thinking about doing that too. Gonna get it black chrome coated. Not only the protection but will look cool too. Post pictures if u end of doing it...

Re: Black Sill Protectors

I'd love to be able to find black rubber sill protectors for the GC, like the ones available for the Wrangler.

Re: Black Sill Protectors

1. Buy sill protectors
2. Buy razor blade
3. Buy "goop" or similar "adhesive remover"
4. Patiently remove as much of tape as possible with band aids near by, carefully
5. Saturate leftover adhesive with "adhesive remover," do a small or reasonable section at a time keep it wet
6. Wipe that crap off
7. Buy one can of black epoxy paint
8. Leave paint on shelf and hand pieces to powder coater along with a well worth it $40 or so

I've already done my sills with film, I still want the Grand Cherokee caps, I've been debating body color, black or leaving them alone. The tape will be easy be patient and don't get ahead of yourself.
