Black wood steering wheel

I believe there are a few posts about this subject. I even seem to recall that an Overland steering wheel was replaced with an SRT steering wheel. The heat worked too but only if the SRT harness was used.

Here's an install...

Does anyone know if I need to swap the harness from my original wheel?

Re: Black wood steering wheel

1 hour labor
They swapped everything over, they Reused that harness that was already in the Summit wheel and raised the temperature of the heated wheel to work with the wood👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Re: Black wood steering wheel

Raised the temperature of thw wood? How do they do that? Would be good to know as my dealer would probably be unaware. Did they act like they had done steering wheel swaps before because people like wood or all leather better?

Re: Black wood steering wheel

He said he had to raise the temp, I believe the temp in the pcm is set to a lower setting for the all leather wheel, and with the wood it has to be brought up to a higher temp. The Tech there also has a WK2 and knows all the ins and outs. He is also a member of this forum....

Looks and feels much better than the all leather wheel, I'm pretty sure it's even got a better leather on these wheels

Re: Black wood steering wheel

I have been looking at pics of steering wheels. From what I have determined, the black steering wheels from overlands have white stitching. The black wheels from summits have black stitching. Not sure which I'll get.

Overland steering wheel never came with black wood for 2014+ though.

White stitching wouldn't go in an HA.

I'm thinking some Summit's have white stitching and some black. If you get a Summit wheel from the Argentina - Black/Dark Sienna Brown interior it will have black wood and black stitching.
