Re: Body-color matched grill, handles, etc...

Beancounters. Is less expensive and easier to forecast stock when you have packages rather than individual options. Really was started by imports (think it was John Z who said they could run an entire year's production of Camaros and never build two alike).

It also allows the plants to force less desirable pieces onto people who want desirable ones (could not buy a Z-28 without bumper guards, can you say "E group" ?)

Re: Body-color matched grill, handles, etc...

I know this is late but I cannot help but agree. The problem with Jeep's trim line up is that it began to cannibalize itself because the design team caved to the WK's shortcomings...

It was a known fact the general public did not like the "plastic-ey-ness" of the Laredo so for the WK2 they threw on chrome..so then going higher up the food chain each model had to get better and better...I love my Wk Limited because it has a nice balance of body color and chrome trim..although i would LOVE to have a smokey chome finish to it instead.

the WK2 limited should have body colored mirrors and handles with the window trim in chrome..chrome grille and maybe body colored rear trim over the license plate..the overland looked better in wk form with the mirrors being that silver but not chrome finish...overall i hate that many of us need to drastically change the appearance of one trim of jeep because we like a pice from another trim..tons of car makers make it easy to customize such features and i wouldn't mind paying a little more to do so..

Re: Body-color matched grill, handles, etc...

I put the SRT grill on one of my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overlands and it does fit. The only issue you will have is if you have the speed monitoring system or not. If your jeep does not have that you will be able to fit the grill if you DO then it wont fit. Odd I know considering the SRT has the system in place. I have 2 2011 Overlands and a 2014. One with the adaptive cruise control and 2 without. And the only one the grill fit without modifications was the jeep without.

Has anyone done this?

We need pictures of the 3 together NOW!

But seriously, what made you buy 3 and what is different about them? It is definitely possible that I end up with 3 as well, but I would have a 2014 Overland, Summit, and SRT (or maybe 2 SRTs instead of a Summit).

Chrome needs to be scuffed, then acid etched- paint will stick like a champ!
