Re: Bosch Icon Wiper

Anyone know what brand did they originally came with? Mine are 16 months and still working as new.

I was curious about that also so I called the dealership and they offer two different types of blades one for $20.00 and one just like the originals for $33.00 each!

Re: Bosch Icon Wiper

Call me crazy but I'm still on my original wiper blades since I purchased the vehicle in Nov., 2011. Since it hasn't rained much in the past 3 years I really didn't need to worry about them failing. Now it's finally time to buy new wipers so I'll probably go with the Icons.

I really wanted to replace the wipers with the same ones that came on the vehicle because they are streamline. However, I couldn't justify spending $70.00. I wound up ordering the Bosch Icons from Amazon for ($
38.00 total) I should get them in a few days.

Re: Bosch Icon Wiper

Fall is the time to change your windshield wipers. I went to a meeting at work . That had a rep from one of the wiper companies. He spent an hour telling us about wipers . Who knew you could take about wipers for that long. Anyway the take away from this meeting. Was the hot summer sun dries out the blades and can give them a set.

Re: Bosch Icon Wiper

Pour some rubbing alcohol on a rag and run it up and down the length of the blade several times. It does a great job of cleaning the edge and softening the sun hardened rubber. Not a substitute for regular blade replacement, but a nice rejuvenation.

Amazon usually has them.

MN winters (with all the road salt) are tough on wipers.
One thing I do occasionally is use some alcohol wipes to clean off the blades. You would be surprised at how much crud comes off and how well it improves the wiping action of the blade.
I'll second the Silblade. If you scrub them with no scratch cleanser they last a pretty long time even in desert and arctic grade weather.

The other option is to buy the shortest Icon and take a Dremel to it, then refit the ends onto your carefully trimmed innards, but having done that once, it ain't worth it.

Re: Bosch Icon Wiper

I installed the Icons the other day and just drove through some pretty heavy rain. I was a bit hesitant to buy them at first because the factory wipers were more streamline at the attachment point. I must say they do a great job and don't look that bad either! Glad I went with everyone's recommendations on this purchase

Re: Bosch Icon Wiper

Just a reminder to put a folded towel on the spot on your windshield where wiper arm ends... just in case you drop the arm while changing the blade.

Re: Bosch Icon Wiper

Bosch icon blades are not currently available where I live, still can order from Amazon but with international shipping the total cost will be the same or even more than the cost of OEM blades at local dealer.

So, are the Icons really better than the OEM ones or just a good and cheaper alternative?

No snow here and only a few rainy days a year but very hot and humid weather half of the year, what do you guys recommend?

Funny, I installed a 12" and it works fine.

Just installed Bosch Icon wiper blades on the windshield, can't wait to try them in the rain/snow.

The quality is at least double that of the similar RainX wiper blades and if you buy them from Amazon they are still cheaper than buying the RainX crap at your local parts store.
