Brake Light and Turn Signal LED Swap

I posted this question in another thread but didn't get any response so I'm trying again here.

I am trying to upgrade all turn signal lights and brake lights to LED in my 2015 Altitude.

I (think I) know the bulb numbers - 3157 for the brakes, 7440 for the rear turn signals and 7443 for the front turn signals.

Does the brake light also function as a turn signal light? Everything that I have read on JG seems to indicate that they are one and the same, but I am then confused as to the reasoning for the different bulb numbers. Perhaps there are multiple turn signal bulbs in the housing?

I would like to get Triton V3s for at least the brake lights, but would like as much light output as possible for the turn signals as well. Can anyone recommend good LED bulbs to order for the turn signals?

For that matter, if anyone can direct me to what exactly I need to order from VLED for the brake bulbs, I would greatly appreciate it.

And finally, which bulbs will require a CANbus?

I am obviously very new to swapping out the lighting. Thank you in advance for any help.

Please refer to my VLED Triton install thread:

Should have everything you need in there. Yes all you need is one bulb for the rear brakes/turn (3457). As for the fronts I never looked into those as I have a Jeep with OEM LED front signals. VLED's offers V3 Amber front signals as well though so for sure see if they will work for you as I highly recommend them.

Thanks JTS, your thread was actually the one that inspired me to get the V3s.

Thank you for clarifying that only one bulb is needed for both the brake light and the turn signal light in the rear. I was confused because many places (xenondepot comes to mind) lists the bulb 3157 as the brake light but ALSO lists the bulb 7440 as the turn signal. It makes it seem like there is one dedicated bulb for the brake light and a separate dedicated bulb for the turn signal.

Thanks again for your excellent installation thread. If I am reading everything correctly, I am going to order RED V3 TRITON LED SYSTEM 2.5 | 1 SET with the 3157 base adapter (red bulb/controller) and the 6 OHM resistor. Is there anything else I need to order? Thanks much!
