Yes, plug and play. Releasing the OEM bulbs was difficult due to the close quarters for one's fingers, but these CREE 30w LED lamps were direct replacements. Be sure to buy the correct replacement for your MY14...it may be a different cross reference than for my MY12. XenonDepot can sort that out for you and they are a forum sponsor with discount codes, too.

Plug and play. Xenon depot is a sponsor. Send them a pm and ask for a discount code.

Re: Brightest replacement fog light bulb

So I installed these last November and I didnt find that the PSX24W LED Bulb | PSX24W CREE LED Fog Light Bulbs were bright enough for me. They matched my Xenon's perfectly, but IMO less bright that the stocks. Think they are 725 lumens.

I just ordered the H11 Philips X-treme Ultinon LED Bulbs. These are 2400lumens, so should be 3x brighter. I'll let you know how they look when they arrive.

Was going to go with the HID replacement (3200lumes), but after seeing the installation instructions I didnt feel like taking my bumper off to install.... so for the sake of 800lms i decided to go with the bulb replacement.

Just for clarification, I believe the Phillips Ultinon LED lumens rating is for the pair, so 1200 lumens each bulb. The halogen H11 provides roughly 1350 lumens. So your LEDs aren't going to be as bright but they will be whiter to the eye. The "45% more light" is referring to light distribution of a H8 bulb. For me, this isn't worth the cost of the upgrade.

This is also why the Ultinons are not recommended for headlight replacement.

very interesting.... I'll think I'll save the $170 and cancel the order....
Thanks for the clarification.

Removing the airdam is as easy as turning 7 quarter-turn fasteners and pulling the piece forward. With a direct plug-in swap, the hardest part for me was deciding where to mount the ballasts.

The HIDs are VERY bright...

Sold.... The bulbs where on backorder for a week, so I pulled the trigger on the HIDs.

Where did you end up mounting the ballasts? Is there a good set of directions you found online for the install?

Thanks!!

I thought the 2014 used a different bulb than the PSX24W. No complaints on brightness for me. Much brighter than the stock on my 2011

I couldn't find a convenient place to mount them where I could zip-tie them, so I ended up just using the adhesive to fix them to the metal risers on either side of the radiator.

For the install, I didn't use the relay harness, but plugged the canbus fix harness in between the HID harness and the Jeep's supply harness. I installed the HID lights into the sockets with the external electrode on the bottom.

Pardon me for quoting myself, but the edit time window expired long ago...'just wanted to say that I actually got to drive it at night last night for the first time since I installed the new LED fog lamps and I'm very pleased. The light is adequate for the purpose and having relatively consistent light temperature is pleasing to me. I'm not a "modification" guy, but count this as a nice investment in improving what was already an outstanding vehicle...for not a huge amount of money.

Re: Brightest replacement fog light bulb

THanks for the follow-up, Jim.

Has anyone tried using some of the other LED bulbs that claim stronger output? I have purchased items from KB in the past and know they have solid products but I too am looking to go the easy route with LED fogs but think there might be brighter options.

I purchased DRL LEDs from this user (link below) and have been very impressed with them thus far with both color temp and brightness.

I am thinking of giving these a try...they claim they provide 1300 Lumens.

or these that are not as strong but designed for reflector style.
