Bull Bars - Ideas and Recommendations

I'm considering adding a black bull bar onto a black Grand Cherokee. Was looking if anyone else has done something similar. This is the model I was looking at.

Thought #1 - "ships on 08/01/2016"
Seriously? You are going to wait 4 months for that?
Looks like a knock-off of a Westin bull bar.
And they have your money in the mean time?

Thought #2 - "Give your vehicle a unique, aggressive appearance"
Key word there... "appearance".
This thing will most likely bend back into your grill the first time someone 'bumps' it (just like the Westin bull bars).

Most of these 'bull bars' only attach to the vehicle on a single plane, which means the first time someone bumps you (or you bump something) the 'bull bar' will either bend down (not doing any further damage) OR bend up and break your grill and bumper cover.

If you really want a good 'push bar' type device, look up Rocky Road Off-Road:
Off-Road Equipment for the Serious Enthusiast

They have a winch-mount bumper for the WK2 that can be optioned out with an external push bar and you don't really have to use it for a winch.

It will cost more, but will actually protect your vehicle from minor bumps instead of causing even more damage.

i'd be very curious to see how those work with ACC, especially considering the winch hook hanging in front of the sensor in some of those pics. i assume you have to get it professionally calibrated after install?

and man, that website... yikes. geocities circa 1996. wonder if they'd comp me a kit if i redid the site?

I did the RRO bumper with the ACC. After I reattached it I've had zero errors. Been about 3000 miles since I installed it. I was afraid of having to have it recalibrated but I lined it up exactly how it was before. You just need to make sure it is perfectly perpendicular to the ground. I also got my bar Line x'ed as well. I'm super happy with it.

Tow hooks came from the factory like that. I have the ORAII package. But the reinstall of the tow hooks wasn't hard at all.

The tear down looks something like this. Need to remove the front fascia and the stock bumper behind it. Then you install the winch mount and then the bull bar. A little involved. But worth it.

Patience is key. Took me 4 or 5 hours. Only thing I broke was a bolt that I tightened down to much but I tapped it out and fixed it.

Did you get this shipped all the way from Australia, or did you find a distributor in the US?
