Bumper plugs?

Anybody know of a company that makes bumper plugs for the license plate holes in Jeep colors? I know the alternative is getting touch-up paint and painting my own. It will probably be hard to match my paint code due to the metallic flake in it.

Re: Bumper plugs?

Make your own. I have been doing this for years. Buy panel fasteners at your hardware store, and use touch-up paint. For my V2 (version 2 - lol), add clear vinyl wrap to protect from chipping. Couple examples of mine:

A little more tricky if you have brushed aluminum look: (but still better than "holes"):

Re: Bumper plugs?

I made my own. The Black Crystal Pearlcoat paint with the touch up worked out fine, and the plugs are so small that you'd never notice them anyways.

I considered bumperplugs, but never go around to ordering one, so I stopped a Home Depot one day and picked up some plugs, used some touch up paint, and boom, all set.

Re: Bumper plugs?

Don't recall the exact size. The little, short, stubby ones in the first pic.

Re: Bumper plugs?

want to say mine were 1/4" or something like that. They're very small, much smaller than the ones posted above. Unfortunately, they don't have that same slope as the ones posted above, they're sort of flat and so a little bit less fluid. But they're so small you can't really tell they're there.

I'll have to get a picture of them tomorrow.

Thanks for the idea! Went ahead and tried it myself and I'm quite satisfied with the outcome. I was pissed off that the dealer not only drilled holes in my bumper, they are also crooked!. Picked up a couple of trim fasteners at my local hardware store along with a small can of bright metallic silver spray. Total cost was less than $5.

Re: Bumper plugs?

^ Looks great. Holy cow -- they did get those hole crooked. Salesman must have had too much to drink... . Salesmen shouldn't go near power tools -- even when sober.

Re: Bumper plugs?

Are you guys using any sort of clear coat over the fastener after you paint it? Someone mentioned vinyl, I have no idea if that means vinyl spray or something? I assumed the painted fastener would crack or peel after a carwash without clear coat.
