Bushwacker Fender Flare Install

My hood got dented by a limb a few months ago and I need fender flares for hunting season when I run mud tires. Since the Bushwacker flares are hideous (and really expensive $500), I wanted to have them shot along with the hood. The body shop did a fitment yesterday and left the stock flares off until I bring it in tomorrow morning. I thought you all would like to see what is underneath the stock fender flares. I'll post pics of the Jeep after the installation.

Re: Bushwacker Fender Flare Install

I like the Bushwackers, but agree on the price. There seems to be a knockoff brand called 'Black Boss' on ebay for $300. Has anyone tried these or seen them in person to know how they compare?

Re: Bushwacker Fender Flare Install

There is another forum member that had his painted and they look pretty good. I would also paint the bolts.

Re: Bushwacker Fender Flare Install

MOFSTEEL I'd plug the darn things if I could; bolts are SS so it would take a bit of prep but I like the idea. @billscarnage I saw the others but didn't want to risk on unknown aftermarket supplier. Someone lied to Bushwacker...

Re: Bushwacker Fender Flare Install

I realize these are specifically molded pieces for a GC, but damn $500 seems like a lot of money for 6 pieces of plastic.

I really like the looks, but can't justify that much money.

Re: Bushwacker Fender Flare Install

Well, taking a bit longer than anticipated since the new hood buckled when it was put on. The hoods are AL and really thin, so the body guy thinks the hinge got misaligned a bit during the limb strike. I took the advise and asked that the SS bolts be painted as well. The black JGC (above) does look good, but it won't look as good as mine.

Got the hood fixed and flares installed. I hate to admit, the faux flare bolts look OK with the other chrome on the truck. The body shop did a little sanding and massaging the flares to optimize fitment and they look factory installed.
