Re: Caliper Covers

I dont like the look on those covers, seems to wanna be.

I would save better for a big brake kit or paint the oem calipers.

Re: Caliper Covers

Saw some prices on Wilwood calipers 6 pistons were about $350 each and 4 pistons were about $330 each. More pistons and larger rotors does not guarantee shorter braking distances. Two old says Germans dont care if the brakes are noisy as long as they work. Americans dont care if the brakes work as long as they arent noisy. More aggressive pad compound, brake fluid with a high wet boiling point, more cooling to the brakes and tires that aren't baised to off road or low rolling resistance will cut brake distances. Corss drilled and slotted rotors are purdy but again dont guarnatee shorter brake distances jsut a bigger hole in your wallet.

Re: Caliper Covers

I installed caliper covers lastnight on my 15 Altitude, the back ones went on easy and no issues however the front ones were rubbing against my wheels so I had to put 1/2 inch wheel spacers on. I know some people don't like caliper covers but I am giving them a try for now.

Re: Caliper Covers

You should be banned to the Honda forum for adding those to your Jeep.

Re: Caliper Covers

You're better off just painting them instead of getting covers

the covers can contain the heat of the calipers and lead to other issues ...or you can just upgrade to brembos...they're actually not that expensive.

I found a set of new takeoff Brembos for my GC for like $1000 ...then add about 600$ for the rotors and pads...so you can get into brembos for under 2K

I think your Jeep looks great but honestly the covers look stupid.
It amazes me that people will shell out a few hundred bucks for covers when painting looks so much better and can be done for under $30.

Thanks man. I was going to paint them but i bought these covers pretty much brand new from a friend for $60 so I figured why not. It's temporary until I can get some 20 or 22 Srt replicas than I'll probably paint the calipers black. BTW I went to the dealership thinking I was buying it in billet but 15 minutes before I got there somebody else bought it so I had to settle for black.

people know.... they won't say anything to you, but they know.

I just couldn't put myself in that position. And the fake looking allen bolts really scream "ballin' on a budget".

With a wife, 2 kids and a new house I am ballin on a budget "Fo Sho". I don't disagree with any of what you guys are saying I just wanted to try them out and it didn't cost much to do it. I've gotten a lot of compliments although they may be fake compliments I don't really give a shit what other people think. I didn't put them on to try and fool anyone. Now that I see the overland high altitude is out I wish I could take this back and get one of those.
