Car Seat Pad

I have my first child coming in about a month and my car seat just arrived in the mail today. Before I have it installed I was thinking of putting down a pad or something to protect my beautiful leather seats from both the car seat and my son.

So, I wanted to see if anyone here has any suggestions? I've seen the BRICA, but was wondering if there are any other better alternatives.

Re: Car Seat Pad

I actually have the Jeep seat cover. It does help protect.

Re: Car Seat Pad

Thanks Snofire! Have you noticed if the car seats leaves indentations in the leather with this pad?

Google search for:
pad to protect leather seats from car seat

You will find many options.
Target sells one for $12.

I have had a couple - currently the prince Lionheart pads. Both previous and current pads leave indentations on each end of the carseat due to tightening them via the LATCH system.

The pressure required to tighten the seats tend to dig in but admittedly this probably varies by car seat design.

Re: Car Seat Pad

I just bought the BRICA's but my kids don't need the kind of seats you have to ratchet down anymore, so they just sit on the pads. I had a hell of a time finding a back seat pad that let you attach the seat belts reasonably easily since the WK2 has "recessed" seat belt receivers, rather than the kind that are on short straps you can pull up through a hole in a pad.

Re: Car Seat Pad

I'm using a Summer branded pad with good results. No indentations last time I checked. My thoughtful wife picked up a Brica cover for the seat back, just before my oldest kid decided she likes kicking the setback.

No I haven't really noticed the indents on the leather at all. Obivously our car seat (I think most) has a base that is always in the car. Now we are onto the bigger seat and that doesn't leave any marks either. I can take a picture of it if you would like.

The Jeep OEM one looks the best to me.

Re: Car Seat Pad

Thanks all for the replies! I ended up going with the Britax version as I found, after googling, that using anything else with a Britax car seat will void the warranty

Hopefully it protects my beautiful leather seats.
