To the OP, your best bet just use the touchless settings for now to blast all the mud and salt. When it gets warmer, hand wash so you can minimize the potential for scratches/swirls. Concerning the presented scratches, how deep are they? Just the clear coat? In the paint? Into metal? Maybe you can get it buffed out. Or just stop caring and let it be.
Yeah its not spining brushes it slowly drags theses felt stips across it. Its not perfect but its as good as it gets for automated that i have ever used. The touchless water jets just dont clean well enough for me i have tried several. My neighboor swore hd was saving money using a cheapo gas station wash, one day we parked our two black cars next to each other and he was shocked at how different and scratched his was compared to the more expensive automated felt strip thing i used.

Re: Car wash question

New car salesman told me many years ago that they were trained to deliver black cars at night or on cloudy or rainy days.

Re: Car wash question

If you have a Goo Goo Gone car wash nearby, try it. They use the felt strips and high pressure water spray including underneath the car. $18 for their premium wash here. I've used many different car washes over my 60+ years of car ownership and they are the best I've ever used.
