Re: Catch Can color

Man, I am not sure if I should feel guilty about how 'not clean' I keep my engine bay....

I have to know, with the catch can on an every day driver, are you really getting better gas milage, and/or going to save the intake sensors? If so --- why would a 'catch can' not be included by the engineers with the OEM configuration?

Re: Catch Can color

Thats disgusting. How can jeep think that is acceptable to allow all that oil vapor to go into the engine air intake just after just 280 miles? I don't want to know how much oil vapor went into my engine air intake with just 1600 miles on it. Im glad im getting a CC in a few weeks .

Re: Catch Can color

That is nasty...

I wonder if there is any benefit at all to having oil enter the intake air stream.

Are there any parts that can benefit from the oil vapors??

Re: Catch Can color

Until a couple of days ago, until HYTEK explained what they do, I had never heard of a catch can. Thanks HYTEK.

That got me searching the internet for more information. This is from the net, so I can't vouch for it's accuracy ...

But on a couple of sites it was indicated that the oil that goes back into the intake is only a problem on direct injection systems. The theory was that the fuel, in a multi port system, actually cleaned the oil off the valves before it could build up.

Then I tried to find what kind of injection the 3.6 and 5.7 use, and best I can tell they both use multi port injection.

I would appreciate some discussion on this to either confirm or refute this information. Like I said, this is all new to me and any information/opinions would be appreciated.

Re: Catch Can color

Just got my BT CC dropped off today. Was expecting it be come in 2 weeks, but i guess they were not busy. Hopefully i will get this sucker on soon. Not so great will cars so i might have to get it installed professionally while i have my Mopar CAi installed as well. might get that done in the next week or two.

Re: Catch Can color

You can do it yourself...the BT CC should have instructions in the box, same with the CAI. I have a WK1 and I'm not the best mechanic and I was able to install mine no problem. I often take them off and clean them thoroughly and have no issues.
It should look good under there!

Looks good!

I had to cut about 6" off the supplied rubber hose.

Re: Catch Can color

I'll probably redo the installation so i can cut the hose shorter later this weekend or next week.

It looks close but it's probably not going to hurt anything.
